Hearing alot of people say that his knee may even improve over time....

Do people really think this is possible and that maybe one day he could play 2 games a week?

Also will there be the chance for him to have an op? My mate was saying they've managed (sucessfully) todo a similar sort of op on a dog using this stem cell research they are promoting in America now... does anyone know about this? I know its only a dog but thats got to be good news?

Given that he's only 28 surely there is something close enough?

If he can just manage 25, or more, Prem games next season, I'd be delighted.

Not a chance, his knee is bone on bone, no cartilage left.

I'd be amazed if medical developments will be sufficiently quick for any remedy to be available to humans any time soon, even more amazed if it will be done for playing professional footballers.

I do hope one day he will get it sorted, as after he finishes playing football he will suffer a lifetime of problems with his knee, so if a fix was available when he is 40 it would benefit his later life.

I doubt it, and certainly wouldn't bet the farm on it.

Thanks to decent, sensible management (and Ledley's own character) we've got far more games from him this season than many predicted. I'm pretty sure we can coax another season at least out of him, or the best part of one. However, that's just a feeling—there are very, very few SC members qualified to give an opinion (and I'm certainly not one of them), and since the club isn't making the scans and X-rays public they can't do that.

It's really fingers crossed—and at least we have more solid back-up than most of the EPL.

They've done amazing things with stemcells, but I don't think they'll be brought into mainstream use for quite a few years yet.

When they do start using them though, undoubtably it'll be the super rich/supermodels/super sports stars that will be using them for cosmetic/injury repairs first

If so, in theory we may be able to have Ledders repaired and brought back as fit as a 17 year old, and if he can lick his own balls as well then everyone's a winner

let it go man

Two words.....Andrei Arshavin

If Ledders can play one game a week next year, I'll be delighted. Dawson as backup when we have two games in a week is fine for me. Almost think missing out on Europa will be better in the short term, no distractions and let Woodgate and Ledders get into a groove.

I seriously, seriously doubt it.

I spoke to a former Tottenham physio a few months back who, whilst admittedly out of the loop for a couple of years now, has seen Ledders' knee. He told me he thought the condition could only be maintained and monitored to limit further damage and it would be very unlikely to recover and return to normal (I guess that means naturally).

Got to agree with mattp, myself i've had 1 cartilage removed and another 1 trimmed which i ripped. I play with knee supports and twice a week still gives my knees trouble. If spurs dont get europa it could help us get to that top 5/6 where we need to be consistantly before we get carried away with this top 4 stuff. As we've seen ledley at the back has dramatically improved our defence, look at WHL!

We just need to play him in the league, once a week. Simple. We should get approx 30 appearances out of him next season, which is awesome

If he can play to the standard he has been, I see no reason why he just can't play our league games next season, we probably won't make Europe anyway, so providing he doesn't pick up another injury I think he'll play 80-90% of our league games.

Same with my knee I had the lateral meniscus trimmed and the medial meniscus sewn, just recovering from ACL reconstruction as well, been a bitch. Anyway back to Ledley, I believe there was meniscus replacement surgery where they replace it with something artificial, this would end his playing career im sure but maybe good for him in the future, I thought his problem stemmed from a chronic knee disorder.

People with cartilage loss in their knees have been having knee replacements for quite a while now, no different to hip replacements, though somewhat trickier I believe. I'm not sure why they cannot do it to Ledley as they are meant to work not only as good as, but even better than real knees.
