I'd be thrilled if he joined but also sad that I'd have to support that 'hairstyle'.

Honestly my dream random link from Serie A would be Chiesa. He's still technically on loan at Juve, right?

I spent the the 1st part of the summer hoping we didn’t get a Martinez, now I’m hoping this is a Martinez we get!!

I sense that Fab is lining up a string of deals based on incoming Kane funds that he can pull the trigger on just before that transfer is finalised. He can't finalise those deals too soon or alarm bells will start ringing in the press and our negotiating position will be weakened. It'll all happen fast, within a few days, Grealish-Ings-Bailey style.

I know we give Daniel a lot of grief… but when you read these stories about how some of these clubs in Spain and Italy have over leveraged themselves to the point of near bankruptcy. Then compare that to our situation; where a
we are carrying the significant stadium debt, yet still somehow finding ways to strengthen the squad… that comes down to pretty sound fiscal judgment. No matter what, he has never put the club in any sort of financial jeopardy. I know he has fucked up a lot of shit, but I am a tiny bit grateful for having a shrewd businessman who has managed to keep us slightly competitive during an era of great financial uncertainty. I’d fucking hate to be an Inter or Juve fan right now.

So after years on SC of, apparently, the argument of "doing a Leeds" becoming a laughable cliche, the post-COVID word is suggesting that "doing a Leeds" is actually small-time, compared to doing a Barca/Real/Juve/Inter.

Could be worse… we could go for El Shaarawy!

Whilst I agree with the sentiment, I don’t think for the past 5 years either fan wouldnt of wanted to be spurs fan winning all those trophies whilst we just fell short. Been saying it for a while, all top team RM, Barca, etc etc have all been spending tomorrow’s money, covid has pushed them over the edge financially, that’s why they all pushed ESL and signed up, they knew what was coming for them without it.

Tread carefully, I was subject to a barrage of anger and disgust after questioning Dele's hair.

I mean, I really want us to sign Todd Cantwell.

If I can support that hair, then I can support Lautaro’s.

I’d happily sell Kane if it meant we got Martinez, Barella and De Vrij with the money. Add in Tomiyasu and Vlahovic, covered by other outgoings and funds, and we’d be in great shape for years!

Lloris
Tomiyasu Romero De Vrij Reguilon
Skipp Højbjerg
Barella
Martinez Vlahovic Son

seriously, just a few short weeks after his grubby role in the plot to steal the game we are being asked to say yay high 5s Danny?

Is our fan base the most supine and passively accepting of corporate culture in the whole league?

edit: the more wtf ratings the more the answer to that question is clearly yes

Ive not seen much of him play, watched some of later copa america games and based off that im surprised by the amount of hype. My impression was that he was very wasteful and his shooting was similar to Lo Celsos in that it was very weak and would rarely convert in the PL.
Wasnt particularly impressed with his highlights on youtube either for a 60~70m player.

Can anyone educate me on what Im missing or am I expecting too much?

I'd agree. One criticism of him whenever I watched is that he is extremely wasteful. Should be 20 goals a season plus. If he can sort that then wow what a talent. All round play is superb whenever I watched.

The guy used the phrase "tiny bit grateful", that we aren't financially shafted, and you translate that to...that people want to high five Danny and that we're bending over to the corporate culture of football.

That's why you get the WTF ratings.

You're getting wtf because you put some random madness in the middle of the Martinez thread.

i take it you saw that as an apologist post? did I suggest you or anyone else should genuflect to Levy’s budgetary brilliance? I was simply speaking for myself. Speaking about my modicum of gratitude, while still acknowledging Daniel’s plentitude of missteps. Not insisting anyone else should feel the same. As I can’t speak for others or assume what they feel or think. But apparently you have everyone figured out? Declaring you think Spurs fans are mostly supine and passive? And that if anyone disagrees that just makes you more right. You don’t think those you are tarring and feathering might be a bit miffed with you passing vitriolic judgment on their character? It was quite the sweeping generalization. But, this is an open forum and you are free to express your opinion. Likewise, don’t be surprised by the reactions it might generate.

That said, your beef is with me. Only me. So, no reason to throw all other fans into the mix. Vent your spleen at me instead. I’m the asshole who made the comment. And I’m sorry it annoyed you.
