We've only lost twice. Reading some of the things being posted on here recently you would think we were losing games left right and center. I don't get the negativity from some people to be honest, I understand the pressure and frustration of this run in, competing on such fine margins, but we should also recognize our improvement over the season. We're becoming more of a team, we come back from losing positions, and I'm personally delighted with the job AVB's doing. If DL will loosen the purse strings this summer we could go a long way I think.

We've also played all the teams above us in those last 20 games, and we haven't lost any of them. We beat Arsenal and City, and drew with Chelsea and United. This is not the sign of a team that is a defensive shambles and has no attacking impetus, which a lot of people have been suggesting recently. I was very happy as well with how we played yesterday, we were the first team not to lose there in 9 games and I think if it had kept going we would have won eventually.

Kaboul, Sandro and Dembele would have been good for at least an extra 3 points between them if they'd all been 100% fit this season.

I guess every team could say that about someone, but we really come unstuck with our 2nd tier players. It is incredible that we're still in the mix considering our lack of depth compared to the other 4 sides.

AVB is awesome. We actually are getting points off the big teams, which hasn't happened for a while.

When we have our full strength team back next year w/ Kaboul, Sandro, fit Dembele, fit lennon & a consistant striker - we are going to be a force

We've only lost twice.

I know what you're getting at mate, but you can also look at it like this:

We have only won 11 (Arsenal 15, Chelsea 12)
We have taken 40pts (Arsenal 49, Chelsea 40)

The big one for me is that when it came to the crunch and we had a golden chance to drive home our advantage over Arsenal we played 2 and lost 2.We fought brilliantly to make a 7 point gap and then threw it away in the shortest period of time possible.

So yeah, it's great that we have only 2 lost in 20 in the league, but it's not the whole story.

You know nothing of the crunch.

2 points per game over the course of the season is 76 points. Everyone would be happy with that.

whether we finish top 4 or not its been a hell of a season, we havent won anything but theres been some heart stopping moments good and bad.

Last Season's Points Total = 66 points

So far this season (2 games to go) = 66 points

Best ever PL Season = 70 points, so we could still get a record PL points total

Think those being negative need to look at some facts first

No trying to be negative in a positive thread but...

The results have been far more impressive than the performances. Which I spose can be seen as a positive in the short term.

A manager who retired the other day... I can't quite remmeber his name won many a league title in just that manner. For a first season, with a pretty big transition player wise AVB can only be applauded for the season he has had.

I think Bale has made the squad look a lot better than it is. Losing Modric and VDV has meant that we haven't dominated possession the way we could last season.

I love Dembele and Verts. Credit due for their signings but losing two world class match winners is a huge blow.

I'm happy with AVB. After repeating his mistakes at Chelsea (quick decisions on VDV, Dawson, awkward tactics), he's come through very nicely. He's tactically sharp and a friendly chap too who represents the club in a good light.

Levy really does need to spend on some top players but he won't.

Can't disagree with your assessment re AVB and our performances but do with your Fergie comment. He consistently got the best out of his team performance wise.

Oh I am not saying he didn't but it certainly wasn't pretty at times, he always managed to get something out of games even when they didnt deserve it.

Totally agree. 76 points would be lovely! I just think that we shouldn't get too carried away with "lost 2 in 20" because it's not entirely representative.

It's a bit odd - and classic Spurs really - that we have pulled some great results out the bag at times (United, West Ham, City etc.) but as soon as we got that 7 point lead we managed to instantly blow it! So those 2 that we did lose in the last 20 were perhaps the most frustrating of the season.

Let's just hope Arsenal do the decent thing and lose 2 themselves :)

Its the draws man, the fucking draws.

We were ahead at Wigan, their keeper fucked up. We should've enforced that as the catalyst to undo their flimsy confidence. Instead we fell asleep. Win at Wigan and I think we make it. Its that fine a margin.

We did similar at home against Everton. Scored in the first minute, then stopped playing. I thought Everton were completely off colour that day and were there for the taking.

Based on that form table I actually think that IF we win both our games, we have a better chance of finishing above Chelsea (vs Aston Villa and Everton) than we do of finishing above Arsenal. We'd have to win both games to have any chance but I could easily see Chelsea losing one of those games. Everton will want to give Moyes a good send off and Villa seem to be maturing into form.

Problem is losing one mightn't even be enough. They need to not win either, so a it needs to be two draws, two losses or a draw and a loss. I can't really see them failing to win both times.
