Tbh I like Lamela but he is hardly irreplaceable. For the amount we paid for him it hasn't proved a good investment , especially if he is running down his contract. He has given us 1 dire season, 1 average and 1 good but not amazing. We paid 25 m and even after improved form this season I doubt we would get much more than 15m if we sold him now. The club has been very patient with him and hopefully the rumours are not true so he can give something back.
Stop using the transfer fee as a stick to beat him with.
Players don't set their price.
He's done well this season and last
in terms of effort and assists and goals.
He's like Deli Alli in that he has that uncertainty factor
(Plenty of jokes available for you there)
and is good to watch in a good old Spurs traditional way.
He is the link between Pochettino and the team on the pitch.
Like the boy.

I see no difference between "one more year" and a fictitious "another year" i mean a year is a year whether it be one more or another.
Ah the subtleties of language.
'Another' has a possible sub text,
'one more' does not.
Anyway I hope he stays.
Why would he not.
He has the trust of the manager, we are in the CL
and a new contract awaits.

I think the wording on this is just manipulation by the press. I'm reasonably confident that message Lamela was actually trying to say was "I'm not leaving this summer".....rather than that he has a master plan to leave next year.

Not grasping at straws mate.
I don't agree with your view.
I like to think Lamela is intelligent enough to realise that if he was planning on staying for 1 more year only then he wouldn't go spouting it to the press.

He wasn't talking under any duress, or being put on the spot. Why did he bring it up at all?

Like Modric, i have no problem if he wants to leave (or any player for that matter) i am only interested in players who want to wear the Spurs shirt. Times have changed, contracts worthless and i can accept that now.

I don't doubt that he will see his contract out and possibly extend it, i just laugh when a players actual quotes read in here are wrong if they don't suit the agenda.

Perhaps that B52 did in fact land on the Moon all those years ago.....

You are very trusting haggling over a word
from an Interview in Spanish reported in the Standard.
best to spin it how you want it.

Anyway the B52 landing would surely have been reported
by The Resident Man to the passing Cow.

That sounds like someone who doesn't want the boot, not leave the club.

Maybe it's lost in translation whatever. But coming from Lamela its confusing. Since last season he kept saying he was happy at Spurs and didn't want to go anywhere soon. Next season must be very exciting for everyone at Spurs with CL footy, perhaps his message was he looked forward to playing next season.

You are very un-trusting haggling over the same word.

It's a strange thing to say - but it's no mistranslation - it appears to be a direct quote

TyCsports is pretty much the Sky Sports of Argentina, I think..

I think he is just trying to say that he does not want to go anywhere this Summer that he wants to be at Spurs next season.
