Two things:

One, Not really a suprise at all is it. As BOF says, the next bit of news we will get is that he'll miss the start of next season.

Two, thank the frikkin' lord for Jonothan Woodgate.

He will end up on a "pay as you go" contract, I reckon. One of the Club's highest paid players on his arse for three quarters of the season. Good player and WHL legend or not, business acumen has to come to rescue at some point.

Very true. I think Ledley would be forced to accept it as well, I can't see any other club offering him better what with his injuries. Although with Newcastle and West Ham around, you never can tell.

Hopefully we can take the club at their word and this is not evidence of him having a recurrence of the injury, and they genuinely are just letting him recover fully with no big games left to play.

Will hopefully have the added benefit of giving Dawson or Kaboul the opportunity to play alongside a top centre half in Woodgate (and let's not forget, it's only when they played together or alongside fringe players like Rocha and Gardner that they looked dodgy) and show that they're worth keeping around. People are very dismissive of Dawson nowadays when he was part of the best defence we've had in years. Playing regularly alongside Woody I think he could still do an excellent job for us.

To be honest, although I would love the King of old to return, I have resigned to the fact that he may not be back.

The signs for King aren't good, but everyone had written Woody off after a series of serious injuries but he seems to be doing okay at the moment. So maybe, just maybe having 3 months of rest and recuperation before pre-season training could reap dividends.

Just think of what Ramos could spend the money on if he didn't have to splash £10m+ on a CB in the summer.

I am honestly starting to think we need a new medical team at the club. :-|

Didn't really expect him too really, we aren't playing for anything. Makes complete sense to me

it's better he rests until next season. hopefully we'll see a fighting fit King ready to take on the new season like a battle axe war-horse.

Sad, but not surprising. We've seen it a long time already that we can't rely or build anything on Ledley. We need to find a new "King" to partner Woody. Daws and Kaboul just aren't good enough. Ledley can stay and play here and there...if his career continues as I hope it does.

As someone else said above, I think we should try Daws with Woodgate for a bit to see how that shapes up. Daws looked very decent while partnering someone as experienced as King. Surely he can do the same with a CB of Woodgate's quality??!

yes daws and kaboul are more than worthy partners for woody. But we will have an issue if woody is injured/suspended and we are left with kaboul and daws.

If ramos doesnt want to play rocha, sell him and buy a similar experienced head who can fill in with one of the young uns (whilst pushing them for the position at the same time)

I feel very sorry for King, without injuries he could have been the greatest english CB of his generation.

But we can't continue to include him as part of our plans.

By all means keep him around, try and get him fit and then if we day he can step back into the team on a full time basis, we can look at that option then.

But for now i think it is crucial we bring in another highly experienced CB to partner Woodgate.

Denial sets in. Rather than accepting the situation for what it is, we start blaming the medical team.
