FFS do you know how many players and agents and friends of the players are normally involved in betting scandals with far larger amounts of money, I didn't even know it was about £500, fucking hell fuss for nothing

He's just guilty of making it too obvious if anything.

I love how he told them all to lump on, yet their bets were for such small amounts when they could have made thousands.

Big spenders up in Burnley, or wherever he is from up north!

For the small amounts that they wagered and would have won Trippier might as well had just wired them the cash it would have been a couple of hours wages for him ffs. Honestly these footballers..

Yeah, he could have easily said, I’m off to Madrid, don’t bet on it because I could get banned. But here’s 20k for you all to have a party.

Betting companies reported irregular betting patterns.

Seems a small amount to be getting flagged up by betting companies. Would have thought there needed to be thousands involved to set that in motion. Maybe we don't yet have the full picture.

A dozen or so bets all coming in from Burnley probably tipped them off. This transfer came as a bit of a surprise as I recall too, wasn’t like this was in the press and people just made educated guesses.

Mate could have been a boastful family member or friend just as easily. I'm doubt he told people so they could make money off it. Let's be honest if you are very soon about to move to another country there are always going to be people you need to tell.

Yeah I dont think he was betting on it himself etc. He did tell his mates to “lump on“ if they wanted, but imo if the bookies are so concerned about this kind of info affecting bets they shouldn’t accept those markets. There will always be leaks etc on transfers etc.

It’s not like he has thrown a match or something. He just told his mates he was moving clubs.

There’s no way the punishment fits the crime here. This isn’t about match-fixing, which these regulations are for.
This is just about someone having advanced notice of a transfer, that’s all.
Just end all betting on transfers if there’s an issue.
although I doubt the bookmakers (or our ITKs would support that!!)

Exactly, how much were we paying him? I'm guessing at least 50k a week. Then he probably got an increase on that when going to Atletico plus a signing on bonus. They probably did not make more than a couple of grand on those bets. Maybe when he told them to "lump on" he assumed they were gonna bet a few thousand or their mortgage or something?

Technically he’s broken the rules, but I don’t see the big deal myself. It’s not anything like match fixing, just a bit of inside info where the bookies got a bit of a bloody nose. And in truth was small fry for them anyway.
