I have only just discovered that our very own Robbie Keane scored the second highest amount of Premiership goals in the decade just gone - an excellent achievement from a player who is not even known to be an out and out goalscorer. Whatever way you slice it, that's an achievement that Robbie and we should be proud of and thought a thread of Robbie appreciation was deserved.

This is not a thread made to try and convince people he should be first choice for us now, it isn't at all, but it is saddening to see the abuse this man gets week in week out now from his so called supporters, the same supporters who should be eternally grateful for his contributions that have kept us in Premiership football and lead us into European football 3 times. If you want to see him gone then fine, this season is not about past records, but it's things like this that mean that should he go, he should leave with his head held high and with the gratitude of us fans rather than booted out the back door with disgust.

Excellent thread, totally agree with every word and it's great to see a Spurs legend finally getting a bit of praise round here.

Congrats to Keano.

I remember a time when people used to criticise him for not scoring enough and missing too many one on ones. Who's laughing now huh? huh?

he has also scored more then 10 goals in a season for 7 seasons runing, 6 seasons for us, the last player in a spurs shirt to do that feat for spurs was jimmy greaves!

It could be 8 if he scores 5 more PL goals this season...if he reaches that feat I think he will be the only player to do that in a season begining in this decade.

The only one in the top 10 still playing and likely to for another few years, whether that will be in the premier league maybbe questionable. You never know he may also get into the SPL's top ten by 2015

I think the move to Liverpool shocked a lot of Spurs fans and may have disillusioned them that a guy who seemingly loved the club we support was more than eager to join his 'boyhood club'. Say he had not left, and played like he is playing now I think the abuse he currently gets would not be as bad.
He has had a very tough year, pretty much embarrassed at Liverpool by Rafa, having to come back to a club he left only 6 months previous, missing out on the WC with Ireland and struggling with his form. It's now he really needs the Spurs faithul's support, anyone who has scored as many goals for THFC as Keano has deserves a bit more respect to be perfectly honest than he is currently getting.

I thought he looked good on Saturday, the best striker on the pitch, and was glad to see him on the score sheet.

I wish he would start shooting a bit more often though, he seems to have had the confidence knocked out of him and tends to look for passes now rather than attacking the goal.

What would be ideal is if he could start shooting more and Huddlestone could stop shooting altogether
