It surprises me, considering when Pochettino first came on the scene, that he has persisted with any of the players who have not been (excuse the jargon) 'towing the party line'. He was ruthless in the beginning.

I suppose the main difference is that he now has to sustain what he has achieved, which brings a different approach. Coupled with the injuries and lack of 'creative options'.

However, with the lack of zest, pazzaz and general umph shown, (all official footballing terms) poch might be best removing the problems from the squad. As it isn't showing any signs of improving (save against palace). He has probably tried the arm around the shoulder, positivity etc but maybe its time.for ruthless Mauricio to reappear?!

I'm not entirely convinced this is the main issue. Although undoubtedly it has contributed to the team psyche. The performances were awry before the transfer shenanigans got underway.

In reference to the transfer stuff. The club have to realise it's a 2 way street. It isn't just about the players who want out, it's also those the club are trying to ship out. If rumours to be believed, Rose and aurier to name 2. Who knows who else. That's hardly a statement of belief and is bound to have a psychological impact. Although I get the club also has to move forward, it's all about balance and who knows how is was put to the squad.

Not knowing if the company you work for is still going to be in business is a reason for being unsettled and lacking focus. A couple of team mates not being at the club shouldn’t impact your own ability to perform every week.

Bullshit, unless our players have a pathetically weak mentality.

"I don't worry about my individual status, I'm more worried about the team status."

This is what we should be hearing from all of them. Enough about other jobs, other clubs, transfer windows, new stadium, contracts etc., just worry about the team and the team ethic and it'll start coming together again.

It's all been a bit too much recently, and I get that it's the scrutiny you come under us your profile raises, but we certainly seem to get it more than most, with the constant unsettling of the team and management in the media. Maybe that's just a rose tinted view on us, but I wish it'd all stop for a while so we can get back to just thinking about the football.
