I think 3 top top players in and a few big names out would make a huge difference, don’t think we need a whole new team.

CB!
CM!
RW!

An upgrade on Aurier would also be good, in heindsight Doherty doesnt look like a great fit as he’s a RWB not a RB.

brought in:
•Top RB
•Skrinjar
•Sabitzer
•Leon Bailey

Add all of these players to this squad, and most posters on this forum would challenge if made manager. If that is what Mourinho needs to be succesful, then it's hard to say he adds anything at all.

There are some posters with a huge influence on this forum saying some fans would happily see spurs fall through the gutter than win anything under Mourinho. That’s obviously not true and not helpful to accuse any fan of wanting that.

I don’t think we’ve got any chance of beating City in the League Cup final but to suggest any fan will sit there hoping spurs lose just because they hate Mourinho is pathetic. That’s what isn’t needed, not me taking shots at those who are being incredibly condescending of others’ opinions.
Well ... a small number of posters as recent as today did in fact state that they hoped for a loss today. So it's not that strange to assume that such a sentiment can be repeated also for the cup final.

I mean look you could also caveat this with wins against : Man.City x2, Man.u 6-1 away, Southampton 5-2, 2x wins vs Arsenal, Leeds 3-0 and as much as you’re underplaying it the fact is we did win a penalty shoot out vs Chelsea when in the past we’ve had an awful record in those and we are in a carabao cup final and still in EL.

Ive said before there are things about Jose and his style of play and certain performances I’ve not been happy with but laying the blame squarely at his door is unfair and picking out all the poorer matches many of which either we had no Kane & Son available or for two of the cases vs West Ham and Newcastle we absolutely battered both of those and got a bad ref decision and some individual defender errors which are commonplace at the moment.

Im not overly happy with the job Jose is doing but some perspective and rationale is needed.

I don't read too much into it. especially this year. Southampton lost 9-0 to the team we beat 6-1. Liverpool shipped 7 to Villa.

The table doesn't lie. Don't let the odd Blitzkrieg result sway you. The table is what it is.

Getting rid of Jose will not solve our problems if we keep the same squad.

I’d rather get rid of all / most of the deadwood/underperforming players (would probably take about 2 or 3 seasons ), get in a few improvements plus the returning players (currently on loan) and see how they work out under Jose before deciding whether to replace him.
Of course not. But the fact is that even though it is flawed, it is underperforming relative to the talent pool.

well there was that ONE poster, athenspurs I believe, who said any loss that hastened Jose's demise was good. But yeah, the blanket accusation that people are rooting failure is bullshit.

It's not a one or the other.

Poch was showing no signs of being the right man to turn things around once results went bad.

Many think Jose is the wrong man for us but there were options outside of keeping Poch or hiring Jose.

Bottom line is that whether its Jose's fault, lack of players available or just players playing shit is irrelevant. Professional football is a results-driven business & if the results aren't happening for whatever reason, then we all know how it goes. The board regardless of multiple fuck ups will be absolved of any blame, that's just how it works.

Which argument do you not get?

That this squad has been allowed to grow stale or that our recruitment over the past 6-7 years has been abysmal? Or perhaps that we have failed to move on players because we insisted on top dollar for dross?

Let's just blame the latest fall guy, rinse, repeat, etc etc

No, this refusal to put any blame on the person hired to manage and coach them. I don’t disagree that the squad needs more of a shake-up and that recruitment has been hit and miss.

But I expect someone of Jose’s pedigree (and salary) to be able to do a lot better at what he’s paid to do.

We were on course for a bottom half finish under Poch.

People have short term memories about this...

'Posters with a huge influence' ?! Influence on who/what- bunch of strangers on a forum?

The most frustrating aspect of this season is it's another opportunity lost.
Similar to the season Leicester won it, we had a real good chance with others in poor form but couldn't step up.
Man city have put a run together and likely won't be caught but a few different result early on and we would have been a fair few points clear and maybe a different mentality.

It's really quite something that most people seem to be quite happy offering opinions on this while ignoring the Levy sized elephant in the room.

Until he accepts he knows fuck all about football and just concentrates on the business side we are destined to just repeat the same cycle.

The next manager will be a 'project' coAah, the one after that will be a 'winner'. Rinse and fucking repeat.

Every single one of them will have one hand tied behind their back.

There’s no point sacking him now and I am sure we won’t, unless relegation threatened which is extremely unlikely. There’s no one we could get in at this point who would be a positive step forwards for the club.
In the summer it’s a different story, when we’ve completed our league and European campaigns and know where we stand. That’s the time to make a change as more suitable replacements will be available.
Bleating on about it isn’t going to make any difference. Despite some of the turgid displays we’ve had by far the most boring thing about Jose’s tenure is this fucking thread. Full of pub bores endlessly repeating the same old shit. That’s the most compelling reason to sack him for me.

There’s always one...

I’d like to think that, in any one-off game for a trophy, we’d want to win regardless of who was in charge.

There were fans who hated Juande Ramos because of how the club treated Martin Jol but I don’t remember speaking to anyone who wanted Spurs to lose in 2008 because of it.
