Things in general weren't great and the football was turgid but maybe sacking/parting ways with a manager who has just won you your first trophy in over a decade at the end of the season would have been too much of a PR faff maybe. Or possibly financial clauses might have kicked in?I still don't get the rationale to sacking him the week before the final. There must have been some serious shit going on behind the scenes to make that decision
Either way, actually winning a trophy was not the priority for the club itself. It never seemingly is under this ownership.
