& the kind of deal we should be doing it seems to me.
City getting him for that price and wage doesn't mean we would be able to.

Why is that? Surely if a club matches a bid and matches the wages he can accept whichever club? He may choose city which is fair enough but don't really understand thatCity getting him for that price and wage doesn't mean we would be able to.

That's a fair point was just saying as just read that if we offered the same we wouldn't get him but them constantly increasing then fair enoughCity can offer more and there's obviously more incentive to join City than us besides money.

Levy isnt going to drop 50m on a DM when we have dier and wanyama so we should forget about it.
He's nothing like Dier or Wanyama. He's a passer, a metronome type player and exactly what we need to sit behind the front 4 and next to Dier/Wanyama.
Unfortunately, I really can't see this having legs. Napoli are already at our level, if not perceived as better in Italy. It's a sideways move and would only do it if we treat him like a megastar and he desperately wants to play in England. Otherwise City will always be the better prospect, even if he might not be guaranteed a spot in the starting line up. At the end of the day he's been part of a 'nearly men' team at Napoli and probably wants to join a proven title winning side.
Apart from the eye-watering agent fee they were probably willing to pay that made the agent persuade him to join us?Because then City just offers more. There's no reason what-so-ever for him to choose us over them and this thread should be locked.
Really can't think of any realistic targets for us to get in midfield at the moment, which is a worry.

The huge wage increase means it's not a sideways move. This Napoli team are getting stripped bare this summer. End of an era for them unfortunately I think.
We could include Dembele in a deal, that's the ace up our sleeve. He would be guaranteed a starting place too.

Call me defeatist but I'm not expecting to win any top-six battles when it comes to signing players...we'll get blown out of the water with both fees and wages unfortunately.
Well we've had quotes from the manager saying it won't make money start falling from the sky immediately, so I think it's safe to say we'll still be getting blown out of the water for a fair while yet.Let's see what the immediate impact of the stadium is before we say we blown out of the water...
