Excited that this hopefully goes through. I have completely bought into Mourinho's puzzle solving after the last few games.
Yeah he looks solid and he looks calm on the ball too what with tanganga and his niggling injuries is what is needed at the mo

Also agree about mourinho I just saw him as a manager to get a cup and a decent league pos but after watching the amazon doc and seeing what were doing on and off the pitch this season ive really bought in to him, hope it continues!

I like the idea of signing British talent, I feel like a lot of the time championship talent sign for mid-bottom table clubs in the prem and are expected to play every game at that level, but maybe coming in with us he will be able to learn more off Toby etc. Will be a good move if we can get it over the line, I saw Trix said there have been developments? Hopefully we can get this done and registered today as Europa will be excellent for him.

But then whats the point of bringing in Rodon if he would not even be trusted to play at home against Linz?
Not sure we would consider him if the plan of him is being a mascot-player like Foyth.

I am sure we will take the competition seriously. That does certainly not rule out playing him or Tanganga in the group stage.
Look at who we started in the 3 qualifying games. He takes the next game seriously and picks the best team available at the time. There won't be any plans in advance for when he will play Rodon. Jose will use the full squad as and when he needs too. Plenty of games in small spaces of time so he will get game time as will Tanganga.

Sounds like this will happen down here, a lot of fans are calling out the board etc but the tone has changed from if they sell him to I can't believe they have agreed to sell him.

Spoke to a good friend last night who plays at a decent level. He thinks we have played a blinder.

Said Joe has been courted by other big clubs and thinks he is the most talented player Swansea have produced in recent years and has more potential than Dan James and was better than both Joe Allen and Ben Davies who have had decent careers.

Apparently there may be a fallout with the manager over this, Cooper was made promises by previous owners in relation to Joe and investments but they have changed owners/board members recently and it is not too pleasant there.

The reason I’m excited about this guy is it feels like a spurs signing from a few years ago that we perhaps got away from under Poch in the later years - taking a chance on a young (ish), highly regarded British talent on a nice cheap deal.

I don’t know much about the guy other than hearing he’s good and seeing him play well in one game for Swansea last year, but I just have a feeling he’ll very quickly establish himself and come into the first team. And I think that’s why we’re signing him.

I like the fact we’re not sitting on our laurels too with Skriniar being unavailable and taking an opportunity again. These are the sort of signings that make clubs winners and/or lots of money (look at Maguire w/ Leicester, Andy Robertson, Michael Keane etc.). Love it!

Its a very David Pleat esque signing. And even though I am normally all for that - I would in this case prefer to save our money, and then try again for Skrinny in January.

The thing is that were do or die games and thats slightly different to group stages were you are not reliant on one upfuck. He still played Hart over Lloris and we should be more than able to take it serious with a team mixed of regular starters and squad players.

Lets just see. But unless it is a Knockout or Do or Die game in Europa we won't rest players in the league for the cup.

Latest from Welsh media :

Well we know this is complete shit as we have had it confirmed by Trix that there has been progression with the difference in valuation. JJ seems very confident as well which is always a good sign. I don't think this will drag out until the 16th, I think we will get it done pretty soon.

Mourinho runs the team as a meritocracy, so he'll play when JM deems him ready.

Being unavailable for 6 Europa League games is not the end of the world

A bit like Dybala last year, I think Skriniar was an option that materialised through circumstances and like Dybala, I don't think it necessarily will be available in the next window, so IMO that ship has sailed.
Given the rest of our business this window, this doesn't strike me as a panic buy, more the opportunity to get in a good young player at what will hopefully be an under market value given the state of the world at the moment.
Whether he's one for the future or can come into the side now, I'm sure we'll find out in time.
As someone else pointed out, I know we view the Championship as lower quality, but is it really worse than the Portuguese league, the French league, the Chinese league or even the Dutch league for that matter.

Trust the process, it seems to have been pretty good so far this window (y)

I would imagine that having Birch at the club will help us get the deal done with their board, plus having Bale and Davies at the club will help get this done with the player.

My only reservation about this signing is that I do not think it is a good idea to rotate CBs, and young players like this need to play. So who gets dropped?

Like I said earlier in this thread, within a year I think he'll be first choice for us.
I've watched him play for Wales and Swansea and he has it all.
Was chatting with my boss this morning (Swansea ST holder and a director at a Welsh Prem club), and he is devastated. He knows his football, and echoes what was said above - potentially the best academy product the Swans have had (and we are getting for a relative pittance).

As a Spurs supporting welshman, I'm delighted, as its going to benefit Wales in the long run. (We actually have some decent CB's at the moment in Rodon, Mepham, Ampadu and Cabango)

100%. Welsh also and I think this is the best crop of talent we’ve had coming through in a long, long time. Especially at Swansea. Rodon the standout but Cabango and Roberts at Swansea are premier league players in waiting as well imo.
