I think he did well. Mistake at the beginning, mistake at the end, but everything in between was pretty calm and focussed, and he’s an absolute beast aerially. Considering it was his full debut and he spent the match being attacked, I’m fine without how he did.

Think he should be very pleased with himself. Got away with a couple of errors but to come straight in and get a clean sheet against a pretty fearsome Chelsea attack is no small achievement. They managed two shots on target the whole game and he played his part.

Thought he was good. Imperious in the air, has a few mistakes in him with the ball that need ironing out, but overall a solid performance.

Doubt he displaces Toby this season. but definitely a good third option.

Great performance in a really big game for us. Him and Dier could be a great partnership if they both cut out the mistakes.

Pretty good debut in what couldn’t have been a bigger tougher game with massive rival, London derby, away and result would mean top of the league for either.

no surprise he was a little nervous the first 10 minutes and he made one mistake early Ona me one at the end, luckily it didn’t cost us but as he said after he will learn from that and improve, otherwise he handled Abraham and Werner abs Giroud well and got a busted lip for his troubles. Now he’s got through that match most the others matches should be easier from now on, Jose loves to test his players he believes in, it’s a test of character and talent.

Well done Joe Rodon, Roden, Rodin, Robin, Rodoniniho, Rodwell, Rodster, Roddick, Robon etc. ??

He was extremely nervous, also extremely tired towards the end he hasn’t played for a while!

But he will get there he will be so annoyed with himself with the mistakes

Only Liverpool will be tougher for him. Crash game to make your debut in, hopefully gives him full confidence at this level.
Couple big mistakes, TA had him beat a couple times on crosses too

But considering the circumstances and playing in a game were we just defended for nearly all of it, he slotted in well enough

Gotta admire Jose's balls, putting Rodon in a massive game. Shows how much he trusts the players to perform.

Pretty good debut, but wtf was that at the end? Shame he’s not EL eligible as he needs minutes to get these mistakes out of his system, and the Premier League really isn’t the place to make them.
Overall I thought he had a very good game. I cut him a bit of slack on that one as he had been assaulted by Havertz beforehand. Apparently you don't get booked for elbows in the mouth that cut people's lips any more.

Dunno if everyone caught it but in his post match interview he was asked about the busted lip Havertz gave him and said:

“That’s my job, I love it”

Love hearing that. We’ve got some players who are really willing to go through the fire for us now. Some serious steel.

Yeah, that looked nasty and might well have dazed him a bit.

Let’s not forget he gave the ball for their offside goal also.

Very promising debut, but a couple of big mistakes that could have cost us.
