Our CB group is a bit of a conundrum to me. I guess the easy answer is if Dier has to miss any time Lenglet or Romero would have to fill the void (currently), but I don’t really view their strengths as good fits for that role, personally.

Another under the radar move for a player out on loan following Scarlett yesterday. The club really keeping things quiet.

Wish him all the best. Model professional. Never had a fair crack imo but he was always gonna be back up so....
Is he really? Genuine question. Only saw what we get to see. But he somehow always look angry to me. I really was happy when he first joined us as I thought he has the potential. But when so many managers chose to left him out I can only assume they know more than we do.

But I still hope the loan will work up best for him in time for the WC performance.

Well he probably was miserable. But I've never heard of him kicking up a stink so...

Davies

It is a conundrum really. I wish Sanchez was more reliable as he fits the CCB role physically but not mentally. Tanganga no chance. Lenglet is a possibility like you said, doesn’t feel like he’d excel there but maybe Conte feels otherwise.

People saying they're surprised we are dealing with Rennes.

They did us a huge favour!

Getting knocked out of that joke of a competiton probably secured us Top 4.

Never given a proper chance, we should have payed up for Skinnier instead of going for the cheap option and signing this kid.

Shame for him, I would have kept him around. I think he has the potential to be a quality CB. Also thought when he came on vs Rangers, he did well, and also looked to have bulked up a bit. Good luck to him tho.

Strange that an EPL team aren't interested.

Agreed. Always thought the links to Brighton made so much sense.. can play in a back 3 as he does with country and he can play out of the back. Not a master at that area but that's where he could have improved at Brighton.

Oh well, wish him the best. I do hope we get a replacement in but I've already seen claims of it must be somebody very good if him and tanganga are leaving.. just can't see who's available at this point and I'd be shocked if they weren't HG

To me Rodon should stay, but only if Conte trusts him to cover both Dier and Davies. Otherwise he's not going to get enough game time, so may as well leave.
I will be sorry to see him go, because I'm convinced he is a Prem level player.

Obviously Lenglet is loaned to do that.

Rennes is still a surprising one, Joe seems to me like a good fit for lots of PL teams in the bottom half.

I don't think Rodon has really justified causing champions league registration headaches tbh. I think there's a good player there and a loan will do him some good but we'll see what happens, I'm glad he's chosen a move that guarantee's games.

He just doesn't seem to fit the profile really. If he was right sided he could be a good cover for Romero. He's not going to carry the ball out like Davies and he's not going to spread the ball like Dier. Shame really because he seems to have good potential and great attitude. He's just not the right fit.

i love the idea of loaning guys like Rodon out. He now has a clear understanding of how Conte's teams are supposed to play and he knows what would be required to make it back into the squad. If he responds professionally and works his backside off, there's upside for him and for Spurs. Godspeed Joe and make your presence felt there. Edit: Just saw the buy option. 20M isn't a bad piece of business if true.

I wasn't hugely convinced by Romero in the centre when Dier was out TBH, it was all a bit too manic for my tastes, now wether that's just testament to Dier or how unbalanced the two either side of him were or just slight weakness with Romero back from injury/not up to speed or a bit less vocal at that time I can't remember or fully put my finger on.
