But we'd be a disgrace if the owners were state funded or rich from Oil Money.....Hypocrisy.
Where's the hypocrisy?

Slave-using, gay-bashing nation-states, Russian oligarchs sportswashing for Putin and the like are on an entirely different level of repugancy to having an owner who may have done some dodgy financial dealings. Hell, every club in England must have had an owner down the years accused of something—we've certainly had our fair share, that's for sure. The basic fact is no nation-state should own a football club, whether it has a horrendous human rights record or not.

Again no disagreement what they do is worsee but the moral corruption remains the same. Think there was this feeling because he wasnt state based or oil based he was squeaky clean. Thats the hypocrisy.

I don't think anyone has ever said Joe Lewis was squeaky clean. Show me one billionaire who is?

Still his dirty money hasn't financed anything but more money for himself. so we are not actually run on his dirty money. Also this court case has nothing about his money but more about giving other people insider advice for them to make money.

Nobody gets as rich as Joe Lewis and stays squeaky clean.

With squeaky clean i'm being dramatic. I just was never comfortable with every potential owner being deemed too dirty for Spurs whilst Lewis was on in charge, now knowing what happened with the trading and in Argentina.

But as people have already said it’s exactly because, as you admit, there are levels to this shit. I mean insider trading is rich person bread and butter. Human right violations isn't necessarily. If Levy or Lewis start moving like crazy Middle Ages dictators then I’m sure lots of people would call it out. Unless we were winning the league every year then we’d probably turn a blind eye to it.

To be clear… thousands of politicians and wealthy businessmen have at one time or the other benefited off of insider trading. Some are smarter about it than others. And, the FCC and Justice Department have finite resources. So, to get caught, it’s usually down to a whistleblower or the person wasn’t very subtle or someone powerful in the background with a bone to pick has directed them to investigate X, Y, Z.

All those who keep asking mega rich Joe to stump up money to buy some overpriced player will have to stop , officially just like Man C & Chelsea it's now dirty money :)

Sure opposition fans will have a field day with this,
Oh no, not opposition fans!

This will go as far over their heads as it does yours.

You know something.... JL giving his GF and Pilots a little inside tip, to make a little money is really down there (really way down) on the list of things I could possible care about. Right now, or at any other time. Argue whatever side you want, compare insider trading to whatever other sportswashing nation state's misdoings all you like if it makes you sleep, or if your keyboard needs a bash today.

It's not even a blip on my radar. It's more of a crime we've got red on our home shirt still.

Although it's not good publicity for the club, it's not of any real consequence...no more so than if one of our other former owners (e.g. Sugar) was charged with something.

Maybe Levy can even generate some extra revenue out of this, by suing people for defamation any time they refer to Joe Lewis as "owner" rather than "former owner". 😅

Some of our fans love drama, don't they?
Comparing Joe Lewis with Saudi, Qatar and Roman Abramovic?
Is it because of all those billions he's pumped into our club to get us where it is today?!
He's basically had sweet fa to do with the club apart from being a name on a bit of paper, for well over a decade.
Bloody hell.

Plus, to my knowledge he hasn't executed anyone in public, stoned anyone to death, chopped of hands and arms or made his money from organized crime, stealing state owned property and selling it back to the same state. Comparisons to the Saudis and Abramovic are quite frankly absurd.

Did he benefit from the insider training or was he helping others benefit by giving them information?

Hmm not really. This was Lewis giving a couple of his longstanding employees a stock tip. Nothing to do with how he made his own money

That's partly true but he is involved in other fraud, who could we buy for $25 million. ? Another Sarr or Udogie.
It will be forgotten very soon but we are named in every story.

On Wednesday, Broad Bay, a company owned by Lewis, also pleaded guilty in a separate case alleging it had engaged in securities fraud to conceal the size of Lewis’s stake in Mirati Therapeutics, a pharmaceutical company, from regulators. That allowed companies he controlled to exercise warrants in the business “at vast financial gain”, the DoJ said. After Mirati shares held in offshore companies were sold in 2018, approximately $25mn was transferred to an account controlled by Broad Bay, prosecutors said.
