Well maybe, only Poch knows what he has in store for him. I see him as a number 10 operating behind Kane, sometimes dropping to pick up the ball and drive forward, but certainly not part of the double pivot in our 4-2-3-1.
Last season he was the most attacking central midfielder in a 4-3-3. Sort of an 8/10 hybrid in the KDB/ Silva mould more than an outright CM or 10.

Yeah there's also the possibility, as I've alluded to in other threads, that we'll be changing formation to a 3 man mid.

My (totally uneducated guess) is that Poch doesn't see him like that. I could be totally wrong, but I think he's most suited to playing CM in a midfield 3 - that's purely a guess, but I think his best work will be done deeper than how we'd envisage our 10s playing

Also the possibility Poch may be looking to play Eriksen deeper in more of a Modric-style role (which I think he'd be incredible at) and play Grealish as a 10.

https://www.teamtalk.com/news/exclu...id-to-beat-spurs-arsenal-to-40m-jack-grealish. It’s Team Talk so probably load of rubbish but.... on the other hand wouldn’t totally surprise me given the John Terry connection.

What would work against Chelsea is their truly atrocious record with players of that ilk - I don't even need to list them

They could blow us out of the water, but I don't really think he'd be an obvious buy for them would he? Not really a Chelsea-like signing, and from his perspective, why would he want to be loaned back to the Championship for a year? He's not 19 any more, he needs to be playing prem football

Yeah, I guess that depends how strong his sentimentality for Villa is and whether it takes precedence over his own career progression.

Given what's happened to Ross Barkley I think he'd be bonkers to go to Chelsea.

Villa started the season 4411 but finished it 4141 playing cm in a 4141 is quite a different role to a cm in our 4231

I think the 4-1-4-1 shout has merit. A few times last season we started with the double pivot but dropped one CM halfway through as the opposing team were just sitting back. So maybe the idea would be that you could bring him on for something different?

The latest from Villa Talk:

"I just came back from getting a laptop of mine fixed and in the back I heard the owner talking to someone in there saying he spoke to someone who is the son of someone (didn't catch the surname but the first name was Sam) and he said that Grealish was going for a medical at Spurs tomorrow."

Fucking hell, laptop fixer ITK. We've nearly heard it all now.
