Guess we really are in for him then.. Anyone watched him this season think he can do well for us?

Levy will be licking his lips here if they are in that much trouble financially. They could end up owing us money

Didn’t someone post their finances compared to Fulham’s the other day before the play off final. Just looking at those it was pretty obvious if they didn’t go up they were fucked.

If they're fucked for cash do you think they paid John Terry off in old trophies?

Okay he may not slide into our midfield right away but give it a couple of years and he may well turn out to be yet another smart buy from the lower leagues. For me he clearly does lack something we don't have. Namely someone who can stand in for Eriksen. The kid has something very special. People wanted Barkley last season I imagine for similar reasons to the ones I'm advocating, I think Grealish has a higher ceiling, and really could develop into a special special player.

I'd love to be able to answer you, but I unfortunately only saw his games in the Play-off Semi's and then the final. To me, he was the best player on the pitch in each game, but I have no idea about the standard of the Championship.

From the little I've seen of him, I don't think he'd be the resounding failure that some have suggested in here, the lad has ability. But I can't say that with any authority because I've literally only watched him play 3 games.

We had encouraging info / ITK the other day (Perhaps from @Trix ?) which said that Grealish, who has a previous reputation for not having the best attitude / wasting his ability, has really knuckled down, changed his attitude and started to look like he may fulfill the promise that he showed as a yout.

Sorry it doesn't really answer your question, but it may encourage others to post whether they agree or disagree which, in turn, will give us both a better idea about his abilities (y)

Mate, because I'm a lazy **** & far too busy posting shit jokes all over the gaff, would you be able to tell me whether anyone in that link says anything about a figure that the club may need to raise to keep the wolves from the door? Or is it too late for anything to be done?

Just wondering if we may be able to gauge any potential fee by knowing how much they have to raise in total, and how quickly they have to raise it.

Bonkers thread. Club in money trouble wants to sell their best player, big deal.

I've said this elsewhere and I'll repeat it, if we're going to challenge for the title it won't be with Grealish.

Worth the risk in my opinion.

Here's a little insight. I met Martin Dobson (professional development coordinator at Everton) last weekend on a course. In the course he explained that two seasons ago Villa got hammered 6-1 or something similar and that same night Grealish was snapped on the town looking worse for wear - he could have just been tired - however he got slaughtered for it in the media and by the fans. He hadn't played badly in that game by all accounts.

Come mid-week and he was put into the reserves or under 21s (I can't remember which exactly) as a test to his character. Now a lot of players tend to slack in these kind of situations or spit their dummy out, Grealish was apparently the best player on the pitch and was everywhere for Villa. So he definitely has the character to graft when things are against him.

I think he has an aura of cockiness about him but from the videos we saw of him he has superb spacial awareness, links play superbly and can beat a player.

If we need a goal I'd much rather know we have him on the bench to try and change things as opposed to Sissoko.

We don't bring on Sissoko for a goal anymore, we bring on Lamela, Lucas and Llorente. Now of course we need to replace one of those and I don't think Grealish is the one to properly replace Llorente.

I agree but there has been occasions last season where we were scarping the barrel. I'm not saying he's the best option around but I do think he could reach the top. We have been linked to much worse.

I get the feeling that the tone would be a bit different if he didn't have slicked back hair and short socks.

I understand your basic point - but I would counter with this - imagine that we can rest Eriksen more often, by playing Grealish in Cup matches and even occassionally subbing in for Eriksen.

A stronger, better rested Eriksen, will make us stronger contenders, and we don't have to risk losing Cup matches because we don't have a play-maker when Eriksen sits.
