Yes, I know many will think this is simply bull**** But, Marc, is a very reliable ITK and never make statements unless they are from a "proper" source.
Anyway, take it or leave it.

Marcspurs - Spursodyssey

Evening all, just back from a nice evening out with friends and my brother-in-law....... who is very friendly with Paul Kemsley (they play golf together) and also friendly with the agent that acts on behalf of Spurs in many transfer dealings........
Some interesting news about the buck-toothed Brazilian........ which I have now heard from two different independent sources in two days...... hence why am posting this now......

Spurs are in advanced negotiations with Ronaldinho for the transfer of the player to WHL........ there are only two clubs negotiating us and AC Milan (who in all probability will also be in the UEFA Cup next season).....

His preference is to come to the PL....... and he does not want to join a CL club, but rebuild his reputation by helping a club into the CL... and he wants to play in London.......

Secondly, he has apparently already visited the club on more than one occasion........

Finally, the one sticking point (typical Spurs)....... he wants £140k per week....... Woody is now the highest paid player at the club at £60k per week...... we have said that we will go to £70k per week and it is now up to this agent that brokers deals for the club to find one of the sponsors willing to cover the other £70k per week....... the alternative they are looking at is a £3.5m "bonus" each year (which = £70k per week).......

As I said, I have now heard this from two different sources in 2 days....... make of it what you will....... don't shoot the messenger.....

Have heard that he would rather come to the Premiership then Serie A but would be surprised if a) he would want to come to Spurs and b) we could afford him.

Imagine a team with Ronaldinho and Berbatov though...

First off, every 'ITK' has to be taken with a pinch, fistful or entire sackful of salt, true.

Secondly, I have serious doubts over Ronaldinho in a Spurs shirt (although I have had a recurrent dream in which he skins all eleven opposition players before tapping in a goal with his arse).

But, think back to 1978. If anyone had said that Spurs would sign two Argentine superstars (alright, Villa wasn't that much of a superstar at that point), wouldn't our reactions have been the same?

OK, football isn't the same now as it was then, and I'm not saying I believe it. But I do allow for the possibility that it could happen. There are many reasons why it couldn't happen, but then there are a few reasons why it could:

1) We're Spurs. We may not have won much recently, but our reputation is still impressive. Our club is known throughout the world.

2) We have a manager with a great reputation. When he first arrived at Spurs, I heard a Spanish football commentator describe Ramos as the most tactically gifted manager in La Liga. Although not as much of a draw as before, it could still turn a player's head.

3) Perhaps Ronaldinho, after playing at the top level of football, would appreciate the challenge of helping to turn an underperforming team into winners. Although money seems to be the most important factor in a player's career these days, for a player who's already made his money, he may enjoy a more esoteric approach to his career.

Again, before anyone goes through the bother of answering every point with a negative, I'd like to reiterate that I don't necessarily believe the ITK, but I don't automatically disbelieve it either.

Now, if he had visited WHL who did he disguise himself as?

His face is so well known and unique just can't believe it.

If Citeh can hold talk with Dinho then why can't Spurs....

Superstars would help fill the stadium and help our global branding. Primarily, we must win on the pitch -- it can't be a gimmick.'
One of those top names could be Barcelona's former world player of the year Ronaldinho, whom Taweesuk confirmed was a transfer target. 'We've had discussions (with Ronaldinho) but we'll see how that pans out,' he said. 'We've looked at a host of players. 'Man City having discussions with superstar players used to be unimaginable, but not now. With the investment, it's going forward. 'It won't be a Galacticos strategy,' he said referring to the expensive transfer policy made famous by Real Madrid, 'but older famous names. We want to build around the team we have.'

realistically we can take 2/3 players away from the current squad and invest the money into him.

we are missing 1 centre forward in the squad anyway, sell bent and invest his cash in ronald mcdonald and another sub striker, harewood/roberts type and sell tainio, rocha, kaboul, stalteri, gardner and weve got easily enough to afford him!

lets face it though the income from his shirts/name would pay for half of his cash per week.

I'm trying not to get my hopes up, but this rumour is really gathering momentum.

We've had so many false dawns in terms of transfers, and this would be 10 times as big as the Davids signing.

If we signed him, I wonder where he would play.

I think he's better in midfield than up front so reckon he'd play left-sided as I think he does he for Barca with Messi on the right in their 4-3-2-1 / 4-3-3 formation with Etoo as the spearhead? Correct me please if I'm wrong.

Kameni

Hutton Woodgate King Bale

Lennon Jenas Diarra Ronaldinho

Berbatov Keane

Yes please... :hump:

Although we may need to get another more defensive midfielder in (Poulsen) to play alongside Diarra! Woo woo!

If we are NOT after him then we should sack the board right now. He is better than anyone we have, and would generate stacks of cash. In fact, any club that doesn't want him should take a serious look at themselves.

In the past we had discussions about whether a certain player was "a DOF transfer" , a Chairman transfer or The Coaches transfer .

Can see it being more attractive for the PLC than the football club .

Still can't work out if moving for such a footballer would make us a laughing stock or improve Spurs global profile , ask yourself whether Arsene Wenger would buy him .

I can see Sponsors being prepared to bridge the gap for the first year but if the performances have not been up to it Spurs would have to cover the lot for the remaining years .
