What's that now?
U R Gay :-(
(Capital of Uruguay, so I assume Gus's mate)
What's that now?
Modric I believe is right footed? Personally I've had enough of right footers playing on the left so only place I could think he'd play.
UNLESS, he is strong enough to play in the middle in which case...
Kameni
Hutton Woodgate King Bale
Lennon Modric Diarra Capel
Berbatov Keane
Kinda goes against Ramos' seeming policy of having two wide attacking players and a strong central spine.
Plus DC Boy will cane me for dropping Jenas! I just can't seem to win sigh... :-|
I still dont belive Sevilla would do a deal with us over one of their top players.
nor do I SN
I think they will--money talks...if we meet the buyout clause and Capel wants to come, there isn't much that Sevilla can do...(as has been mentioned earlier, I believe)
Who was that handsome devil sitting next to young Luka yesterday?
No, not DC, on the other side, a Latin looking chap?
If he was Modric's Agent, he looks very familiar, and like an ex-player?
Can anyone name him? I'm curious.
P.S. Dan, a pedant from Latin America pointed out on COYS yesterday (where your info had been copied) that Montevideo is the city, but it's Montevidean. (Apparently it makes a big difference!)
I really don't want Kaboul to go. But if he is put up for transfer I'm sure there will be a number of takers.
Of the keepers, I would prefer Amelia--though Kameni is a close second. Amelia is a more well-rounded keeper IMO (I've seen him play a lot and he has done amazing this season despite a crap defensive line), but Kameni is a bit more experienced and a little more of a commanding presence in the defensive half. Just my opinion; what ever happened to Stecklenberg (sp)?
Does "Diaz/Jarque" mean that we are going to buy both? Together they would be a good purchase, Diaz is useful in a couple of different positions and Jarque is a solid back--but I would rather buy Garay if we have the chance, not only can he fill in for Leds right now (when needed) but he could (IMHO) become our next Leds, so to speak.
Capel? Yes please.
. A centre half is a lowly 5th placed priority (after DCM, GK, ACM, 4th S) now that King and Dervitte are both fully fit again.
Neither. Both (particularly Jarque) want to come to us but the interest isn't especially reciprocated. Neither are seen as sufficient (if at all) improvements on Dawson and Kaboul.
Unless something more tempting comes up I'd expect the likes of Gardner, Rocha, Chimbo and Lee to be the only defensive transfers this summer, in either direction. A centre half is a lowly 5th placed priority (after CDM, GK, ACM, 4th S) now that King and Dervitte are both fully fit again.
Sounds like they don't call him "Radio Poyet" for nothing.
Perhaps Ramos, Commoli & Levy will have to start feeding Gus disinformation to keep the identity of our top targets secret...
Any serious leaks of top transfers is now a first time sackable offence. PK fell on his sword partly because of this.
If Garay was available, I strongly suspect Ramos would go for him. However, I'll be pleased if Kaboul is staying (although I am surprized that he seems to have totally disappeared off the first team radar if he's still seen as part of our future).
As for ACM, surely we already have Modric? However, I notice LM isn't on the list of priority positions - so does that mean that Modric is going to play LM in a flat 4-4-2, cutting inside with Bale or Gilberto overlapping?
Or that we're going to change formation to a 4-2-3-1? Or play without orthodox wingers rather like Chelski?

The impression I've been given is that Modric will simply take over from Malbranque on LM in a 4-4-2 and play as a Pires, J Cole, Roiscky, Hleb, Arteta style playmaker out wide.
Ideally a better version of Jenas (a more box-to-box ACM) will be lining up in the centre or if not then JJ himself.

interesting Dan it was amazing (well it wasn't, it was all too pdepressingly predictable - how so many JJ bashers were out and about forecasting the end of JJ on the back of this signing - I said straightaway it's by no means obvious he's a straight JJ replacement
I was wondering that, looked like Juande's brother or something!
