Is it time for the scarf to return?

Just watching SSN this morning with the Liverpool and Man U match on this weekend. The footage was showing the 50th anniversary of the Munich disaster where Man City and Man U honoured the memory in unison with a huge show of scarfs.

Lazio (and a lot of European clubs' fans) also bring scarfs to the match to display a bank of club colour on the "terrace".

We dont really go in for this type of preenage. Actually our showing is pretty much down to about four well oiled chants and a bit of booing!

Perhaps its time to get the bonding going again.

I was thinking this last night. Lazio looked very 'old Skool'. Not just because of the racism.

How many chants do we actually have? Last night we were markedly quiter than the away team I thought and was a bit dissappointed that we only generated a decent atmosphere once or twice when, "Oh when the spurs..." got going.

Maybe its time for some of our more creative yids get the old pen and paper out to pen a few chants. I love the way some teams, especially in Europe create such an intimidating atmosphere with their non-stop noise and chanting and whistling. I would love to see and hear that at the Lane.

I've still got the scarf I had when I was 10 - and that makes it almost antique (y)

I also have the Spurs bath towel I had then, which is more like a hand towl on me now (or, even, just a face cloth)

id love for us to have a bit of identity with our fans with thousands of scarves or something similar. it would be great to have an atmosphere like at madrid where the whole stadium is kitted out in flags, scarves, banners etc

the 125 year game stands out for me what id personally love for each game to be

Would love a return to old school fandom (not the racism part though, obviously)

Scarves would be a great addition!

A friend of mine has a football rattle, it's well cool!! I'm not sure if they are actually banned from football grounds though.

We should definitely get the word out via social media to have a game where we all bring our scarves, etc. Preferably the Chelsea game, purely from a selfish perspective - cos I will be there for that one!!!

There was a guy in the North Stand last night who had one of those old rattles and was giving it large during a particularly quiet moment.

Great idea about getting this off the ground for a designated match this season but it would want the support of the club really to fully get the message out there.

My scarf always goes with me to games - my dad bought it for me the very first time I went to a match!

I wasn't sure whether old school rattles were banned at one point because let's face it you could kill someone with one! Or maybe they just went out of fashion at some point.

And you're right, it would definitely need club backing to get it fully off the ground. I'll drop the club an e-mail later this morning and see what they say.

Just a little update before I bugger off to work:

I e-mailed the club re: an "Old School" fan day at the Lane, I mentioned the Chelsea game as being potentially a good game for it, what with it being a big game, and AVB entertaining those Chav scum bags for the first time (that's not how I put it in the e-mail though! ha!)

So I'll let you all know what the response is when I get it.
