1-0 to Liverpool, Torres scored (who else?)

Burdisso sent off for Inter, his first CL appearance since that fight in Inter-Valencia last year.

Game over. Not literally but Pool are through.

Italian football is shite at the minute. Inter are very poor, like AC, an ageing squad that needs a complete overhaul.

And not to mention the enigma it is Ibrahimovic. Is it really all hype?

Inter were truly crap. The scousers didn't even have to play well.

Two big, slow strikers - Ibrahimovic & Cruz - so Mancini picks a side with zero width. Three CMs - Viera, Cambiasso & Zanetti - and Stankovic playing heavens knows where.

Even when we have a bad day at the office, I understand what Juande's gameplan is. Mancini was just totally clueless, and so were his players.

Wenger is scum, but one thing I'll grudgingly admit is that he knows when to sell a player. On the few occasions he's been fit, Henry has been rubbish for Barca all season. And Viera is now just a clumsy old clown: he makes Huddlestone look like grease lightning.

Italian football is a joke.

Liverpool will lose at the weekend though. Their priorities lie in Europe.

it was a joke of a game. both sending offs ruined the games. i don't think either was deserved

Saying that, Mancini was clueless. Inter played like a team that had just met at the pub

Inter will still win Serie A, they always always do crap in Europe, they just cant get the hang of it. Zlatan was poor over both legs but has been carrying injuries and has been rushed back. Good solid performance from Liverpool though, a few more goals in the CL and i will consider Torres world class, great finish

'The most overrated player in the world.' (Copyright Martin O'Neill)

It may well be true.

But it's a bit rum coming from O'Neill who has built all his sides around a big, talentless lump of a centre-forward: Hartson and Sutton being obvious examples. I suppose in O'Neill's defence, nobody ever thought Hartson or Sutton were proper footballers...

Although I do admit he's probably a bit overrated, what lets him down is his failure to perform in the big matches.

He has undoubted potential though, and very good ball control for a big man.

20 goals in 22 appearances ain't bad, even if 8 of those were penalties, however he has also chipped in with 7 assists this season.

Yet when he and Mido were at Ajax, a lot of Ajax fans thought Mido was the better prospect. Maybe I've caught him in the wrong games (internationals and CL, I've seen very little Serie A since C4 dropped it), but he's never looked all that special to me. And he certainly wasn't top of the Juve tifosi's Christmas card list.

Carew ...

may not be talentless, he can do everything except finish. A pretty important thing for a striker.

He was still quite raw at Ajax, and like you said didn't perform as expected at Juve.

At Inter though, it's been a different story as far as his consistency goes. He's 26 now and a lot more mature and improved player than he was in his Ajax days.

Zlatan is way overrated. No one can deny his abilities, but he is not and never will be a team player.
