Excellent. Major worry is the agents but if Paratici/Nuno have taken Moriba aside and made sure he's coming for the football and not the money and that he has the right attitude, then I'm excited.

Looks supremely talented and with the potential emergence of Gil having a go in the midfield three at times too I'm slightly less concerned about not having any creators in midfield.

Presume the other two fingers relate to a forward and Tomiyasu/Aurier coming off.

Fingers crossed indeed.

Based on the Gerard Romero info if the player is pushing for the move that's a good sign. Must admit his dodgy agents worry me so it would be good if the player can sway them away from the Leipzig deal.

I hope it's longer than 4 years as that's hardly a statement of intent with us. Also hope those wages are a lot less as I don't think hes earnt that sort of money yet.

Probably four years with an option for another one or two years.

Thanks Trix, exciting news. Must mean all the agent/wage issues are resolved or very close to being resolved. I hope there is some kind of article in the press about all those fees if it’s been massively over exaggerated by a Barcelona mouth piece trying to save his club face. It’s put a negative connotation on the player before he’s even arrived. No player deserves that If it’s false, never mind a 18yr old.

I'd imagine with what's happened with ndombele and how we refused Ings 150k, I would think his wages are a lot lower than that. He is currently on 13k a week.

He's reportedly asked for around 60k a week. (From Barca)

I believe spurs will be paying somewhere in the region of that. Which, while still being a large amount for an 18yo, it's not going to break the bank.

And for us, we have winks on 50k and sissoko just leaving, on 90k. So presuming he is around the first team and playing the same amount of games as winks, it's probably worth it.

As for agent fees, again I'm guessing, but his agents were asking for a huge amount as he was going on a free. With a transfer fee involved I'd be surprised if they asked for that sort of money.

Yeah I think it's likely Tomiyasu and Traore are the other 2. I would be happy with that. Shame we don't get another centre forward but Ilaix, Traore and Gil all bring different qualities to the attack. I was thinking more of a 10 in midfield which Ilaix isn't but seeing Gil makes me think he'll be our roaming 10. He seems like an alternative to Damsgaard for the creative 1 in a front 3. Ilaix will fit into the midfield 3 perfectly so we will look strong all over the pitch.

It’s appreciate that your opinion is we should rebuild over a few seasons - I just happen to disagree with it.

I’ve seen this ‘investing in young players’ thing before - it feels like, a couple of times - I know how it goes.

Additionally, being fitted for a heart monitor at the end of next month - I’d like to think I will see Spurs invest in the team properly and try and win something before I pop my clogs. Can anyone be guaranteed to wait 3-4 years to see a team at its peak? Who knows. Is there any guarantee of anything? No. But advocating a lack of ambition by advocating a pro-longed rebuild, is not something I can get behind. The club don’t owe us anything? Then lower the ticket prices and stop pretending to be one of the big boys.

In the words of Jermaine Jenas, “Are Tottenham going to try and compete, or are they going to half-heart it again for the next decade?”

All I’m asking is where’s the ambition. You’ll win nothing with kids - hence why I’m already bored with pinning unknown hopes on Moriba.

That said, I’m pleased with our 3 signings so far ?.

You're making the assumption that Spurs don't expect to compete over the next four years. I'm not sure that that is correct.

I think what's happening is that the board realises that the club lost its way over the past 3-4 years and that we haven't bought intelligently. There are too many other clubs with greater resources for us too try to slug it out for the signatures of established, elite players. That's a battleground in which we are doomed to fail. So we have to take another route.... the one upon which we are now embarking (you might even say, the one to which we are returning).

This other route doesn't mean that we can't compete. Dortmund, Leipzig, Atalanta, Lille, Leicester....and Spurs, until recently....all prove that it can be done. Of course, that route will never be as certain a guarantee of success as the route that Man City, Chelsea and PSG can take. But it is the best that we can hope for, currently. And let's be clear, what we are doing now isn't the same thing at all as buying the likes of N'koudou or Jack Clarke. The players we are targeting now are among THE highest rated up and coming players in world football.

As to ticket prices, they are merely determined by the market. The contract that season ticket holders sign up to doesn't guarantee them silverware or Champions League football. It guarantees them a seat at 19 Premier League games, a couple of cup games, priority booking for further cup games and away tickets, and a variety of further minor benefits. That is all. If the football or match day experience fails to satisfy or provide value for money, the market will soon tell the club that it has got it wrong. But for the time being, that hasn't happened. So the club has no reason to reduce prices. I know that that might appear harsh and dry - but it is the reality nevertheless.

I hear the stoke itks have 6. ?

Been a bit down so i decided to try to spin things positively to myself. I think it’s a bit of sluggishness that’s put people off on youtube, myself included. But I’ve seen him described as having an ‘elegant’ style, which reminded me that zidane also had not so quick feet. He would beat players, control the ball and pass with a really aesthetically pleasing economy of movement and touches. What I’m saying is this guy is Zidane.

(I do like the look of his passing.)
