What's new

I want to know what people think of Zokora to better my opinion.

I have given him a bit of stick of the last few seasons, never hated him, never disliked him, however a PART of me feels he is not a good enough player for us.

The other, i would say 70% says i love his character, i love his passion and commitment to spurs, and i love it when he bombs forward (minus the stray shots he ends up with)

So i just want everyone to help me conquer the part that thinks he should not be in our team.

I accept he is at Right back temporarily, but i am basing it since he joined as 'our version of viera'.

ONCE AGAIN i would like to add I am not being mallicious towards zokora, just merely asking for you to actually argue against me and give me a reason to accept him fully.

:)

I think he should be in our squad but not our first 11, he works hard but lacks a bit of quality to be a first 11 but having said that, we don't have a quality DM, so i would have him in their because we need balance.

actually like him better at RB than DM. overall I love him. steady, reliable worker who does whatever is asked of him. quality isnt top drawer, but very good. of course, I felt the same about Steed, and we let him go.

He isnt good enough to perform the job which we signed him for. However, as a squad player I think he's got to be the first name on the subs bench just for his ability to slot in anywhere in midfield or defence and do a job in emergencies.

Your feelings toward Zokopops are quite normal mate. I love him one minute, laugh at him the next and then want to slap him a moment later, right before he goes back to making me smile again. If he was a bit better at football, he'd be one hell of a footballer!

Let's not kid ourselves

He is limited, cannot control a ball properly, does not have the vision to see a pass or the skill to execute it, is not incisive and whilst he can run with the ball inevitably does nothing with it - given away or blasted into the stands. This is the DM who still has to score or even threaten to do so.

Sorry, but if you can get excited about him extending his contract, you are a better person than me or your ambition does not match mine. Also what is this crap about Zokopops and other silly names - grow up!

All I want to see from his this season is positional discipline and maturity protecting the space infront of the back four and allowing Jenas and Modric to go forward safe in the knowledge that he will plug the gap.

Doesn't matter if he can't shoot or has limited passing, all he has to do is get the ball and give it Modric. simple.

I like Zokora a lot, the problem is he came with very high expectations. He was supposed to replace Carrick and was often described as the new Viera. He hasn't made the defensive midfield position his own and certainly not to the standard of Carrick and Viera was a world beater and well Zokora isn't.

What we have got is an exceptionally hard working player who will comfortably change positions several times in a game to whatever we need at the time. He hasn't justified his £8.2mil price tag but we need players like Zokora in the squad to complement all the flash gits we've got.

The thing that still drives me mad is he looks mustard when he plays for the Ivory Coast.

Controls the game, tackles hard and brings the ball out from deep linking midfield and defense....... just can't seem to do it for us :bang:

Still like his chant and dance combo in the crowd, should stay just for that and for when he scores
