"Back at Spurs I've been working very hard over the last few weeks - a lot harder than I did the last time I was injured - because I knew these massive games were coming up.

"I've been desperate to be involved and when I got the call I could have run up here."

Why Alan? why were you not working as hard last time? is this why we've replaced you already?

He did a 20 minute interview with the BBC Website where he talked about Spurs and he came of very positively, surprised by these comments.

He could have been misquoted?

or it could just be a case of interpretation. What he may actually mean is that because we were in a "relegation dogfight" this time around, he was more eager to come back and help the team out, whereas last time we had nothing to play for, so it was a slower process back to fitness.

Hummmm it's one line not sure you can judge without hearing the rest of it. He might simply mean that the last time he recovered he could do it at a steadier more snesible pace becasue the club had already won a cup and were not indanger of relegation or breaking the top 6.
You could spin it as this time around he's under going an accelerated program to be fitter to fight for this club. If that is the case he's taking a risk of breaking down with other injuries working harder and quicker for THFC.

Get off his back till we have facts

Perhaps the bling in each of his ears has begun seeping into his brain... telling him that he is the greatest right back, instead of him believing that he needs to prove himself, which he f**king does !!!

misquoted or taken out of context. Wouldnt read too much into it.

He also says he wants to train hard and get back into the spurs squad as soon as he can.... i hate when people pull part of a quote or interview and slate a player, was reading it in the paper up here yesterday

so why he is trying harder before these games, he is just played first 70 mins for reserves last week after clear long term injury. if Key game for us in the our fixture and we need him, I'm sure he would say the same, he already said he can't wait for CC final in 2008. He knew that he isn't needed, Corluka & Zokora here with Chimbonda as 3rd option as well.

I don't particularly care what he says, as long as he shows his commitment out on the pitch. Let him talk with his feet

The only thing I really take out of that is that he's a very proud Scot.

Obviously as Spurs fans, we'd rather he was a very proud Yiddo but the two aren't completely mutually exclusive.

Misquoted?? Maybe. But did he REALLY ever want to sign for us in the first place? We made him an offer to sign for us that he turned down if i remember correctly. We then went back with better terms for him and he signed. This added to the 'Misquote' starts to make me wonder about him...

If you watch the 20 minute interview he had with the bbc, you'd see he rushed his comeback because of the situation at Spurs at the time. Did anyone know we had 2 points from 8 games? Hutton said he probably wasn't ready but wanted to help out so much that he came back well before he should have even when the doctors advised he should probably sit out for a bit longer. That quote is just strangely worded, but not a misquote. He gives the reason in the last bit of the first quote.

"Because I knew these massive games we had coming up."

Hutton just set up Scotlands goal. Hopefully he is going to be back to last years form, although now we are spoilt for choice along the right.
