I think of Chiriches more as cover for right back than centre back now.

I'm ok with him at rb but if I were Poch I would never play him as cb again unless it was absolutely necessary.

I suppose it depends on how well yedlin fits in during preseason and what not and or if there are any decent youth players fit to provide cover there (the kid at middlesboro)

I can understand keeping chiriches as cover but I think he was bought it to be a first team player and is probably on first team player wages so if we can strengthen our options in the summer and already have first team and cover sorted without him we should look to sell

Agree with all you say. And what I would add, and its relevant to this thread, is that the youth players understand and are taught the culture and philosophy of the club, are probably more loyal, and most importantly, even without the experience, know exactly what is expected of them when promoted to the first team and are far more savvy about the style and nature of PL football.
Most definitely.

Whatever criteria you use to determine our worst ever signing (cost, value for money, age of player, expectations, performances). For me Soldado goes down as one of if not the worst signing in our history. My eyes bleed every time I see him in a Tottenham shirt. Watching him try and perform for us is just painful. Fed up saying the same things about Soldado. Just an all round poor player. Shouldn't even get be getting in the match day squad. Adebayor is on a different level to Soldado. Just a shame Adebayor has given up. Sell Soldado at any price in the summer.
As for the other signings:-
Eriksen and Chadli are no brainers. Good signings.
Lamela. Our record signing has been a disaster for us so far. Because of his age and very brief glimpses of quality he'll get more time. Needs to show a vast improvement next season. At present we've been conned for £30million.
Capoue and Paulinho. I actually rate these two. But for whatever reasons it hasn't worked out. Sell.
Chiriches. Obviously has talent. But isn't strong enough or clever enough to hack it in the Premier league. Sell.

Eriksen obviously, keep Chadli as a useful squad player. Unload the rest: bad buys by people who did not understand British football.

I disagree we can sell any of the flops easily.
Start with soldado. No one in their right minds bar Valencia would both pay a fee and pay our wages for him; he is a proven failure in the last 2 seasons. If I was a Spanish club I'd be asking for spurs to loan and subsidize his wages. Similar situation to ade. You would need to be a Spanish club with no one in the youth ranks to promote to even bother with this.

Paulinho similar situation except he is younger so maybe some one would be willing to buy him for dirt cheap; I'm thinking circa 5m or less. Similar figures for chi.

Above all most clubs would be asking for loans because we are in a vulnerable situation so chances are we would struggle to sell.

Capoue has hardly featured so I class him in the same bracket as above.
Sadly this is true. The Summer 2013 transfer window has scuppered us for at least a couple more years. Too many big money flops at the club depreciating in value, using up wages and taking up squad places.

I went for Chadli, Eriksen and Lamela...

Eriksen-is a must, can't deny the guys quality, even if he has been a little absent in the last couple of games, himself, Lloris and Kane have been our best players by a landslide this year..
Chadli-A guy I love for his raw passion and general Nice-guy-edness, played very well before his unfortunate berivment and I only hope he returns to his best..
Lamela-was a tricky one, but I still have faith in the boy, at 22 still he has time, maybe 1 more year, if not, move him out...

Soldado-This hurts because I wanted him to succeed so bad, it jut hasn't happened and his confidence is shattered. for his own sake, sell him to a team in Spain where he can enjoy 4-5 more years and have some happy memories for retirement.
Paulinho-A good player...not for our system. Not defensive enough to play deeper and doesn't contribute enough goals or assists to play the CAM role, simply has that "box to box" label which just means he runs around a lot contributing fuck all.
Capoue-Looked good upon arrival and provided decent cover at CB, however this whole thing with him and Kabs and Ade, can't have that kind of moaning player around our squad messing with morale. Sell.
Chiriches-Unfortunate again because I was so excited to sign him, unfortunately just flopped, an absolute disaster at CB and marginally better at RB.

Obviously, all players have their price. So I would take the following for them (at a minimum)...

Eriksen-£40m-£50m
Chadli-£15m
Lamela-£18m
----------
Soldado-£12m
Paulinho-£14m
Capoue-£7m
Chiriches-£6m

Paulinho we will take a big hit on, and Soldado, probably why we have been linked with out of contract players this season, Vlad and Capoue should hold close to price I reckon.

Torres failed for a very long time and kept getting offers from very good clubs.

Soldado has failed in the Prem but Spanish teams such as Atletico and Valencia have both shown a lot of interest.

Same with Paulinho.

We might take a hit on these players but teams don't simply lose interest in players because they've failed at one club. I can't think of a single example of that ever happening.

I haven't seen any news linking Soldado away; the last ITK i saw was Moyes at Socided trying to take him off us.

Regardless it's about BOTH which clubs are asking and whether their offers are acceptable. It's very likely that those clubs asked for a loan + subsidized wages type deal...something along the lines of 'Spurs will pay that player to play for us'. The player in question will only go to a club of similar status; Spurs would only consider off-loading to a lesser club; so in the end nothing will result. (e.g similar to why Ade failed to go to West Ham/wont go to lesser clubs).

This is presumably why Torres was at Chelsea for a long time.

So in the end its difficult to move the flops on feasibly and so we would have less space in our wage budget for new signings.

Looking at that list of players reminds me of how 'shiney' they all looked as we accumulated them that summer.

Hindsight isn't a good thing....it's a frustrating bitch of a thing.

Would sell for any price: Soldado, Capoue, Chiriches, Paulinho
Would sell for 90% of what we payed: Lamela
Would sell if we got a good bid and had a replacement lined up: Chadli
Would never sell even for £80m: Eriksen

Was an absolutely shit window. I was a massive fan of Bobby's but clearly never going to work. Lamela I still like and rate and there is a player in there but would still cut our losses. I like Chadli and would prefer Townsend, Lamela and others left first but think we could upgrade him so, if the price is right, I'd let him go.

Met Lamela just over an hour or so ago in my nearest 24 hr store in Swiss Cottage.

I spoke to him briefly - All I will say is that it was apparent to me that he really cares about the club and he was very downhearted & gutted about the result when I bought up the fact that I was a Tottenham fan and that I wanted him to start today.
The way he was in person just made me like him even more. I really want him to do well here and I hope it clicks for him soon. The only thing I'm gutted about is that I didn't tell him to be more "greedy" when it comes to having a shot for himself because he has a great strike on him and all he needs is a couple of goals on the trot to get his confidence up and the supporters on his side. I hope he stays with us and he is still here when we have our new stadium. Classy guy.

In other news he was clearly a big fan of Häagen-Dazs ice cream. Comfort food perhaps?

Capoue has not been given anywhere near enough game time too turf him off.

The reason he has not been given game time he because he has looked dog shit in 90% of the games he has played in. Slow (both on and off the ball) - not a single manager has trusted him enough to play him for 3 games straight. Even Soldado, Paulinho and Chiriches are closer to the squad than he is which should tell you all you need to know

The Dolphin and of course the Great Dane make the cut. Only recently lost a lot of patience with Lamela & Bobby, I fear either won't turn the corner I hoped they both would. As for the rest, it's easy to imagine them already gone.
