Great balance, foot work and most importantly a great footballing brain.

Really good anticipation in terms of what others are going to do and reacts very quickly, has the technical ability to do that and make it look easy.

Yep absolutely. Two footed and great body movement with players around him.

If we can, what are the chances of him playing alongside hoddle?

Funnily enough yesterday was the first time I've seen football approaching that circa 1987 arrogance and audacity .

Jimmy Krankies overhead pass to Walker down the wing just summed it up to me . Couple more flicks and we'll be there .

I know Newcastle were poor but we were like the Harlem Globetrotters !

Luka's football brain is up there with the best in EPL (Scholes, Rooney, Silva, Gerrard, Van De Vaart) he has fantastic technique on the ball, his movement and balance is unrivaled and has a string loaded low centre of gravity.

Modric's world class in today's terms.

To anyone that has played football, or watched a lot... How does Luca allow himself so much space? Never played with(ok, only semi-pro) or seen anyone that does it so easily as he does....a dream to have in your team. Love watching him play. makes it all look so easy.

He's the best in the country in his position. The reason he creates so much space is he reads the game like a hawk and has superior awareness and always looks up and knows what is around him before he recieves the ball.

He processes the game in front of him extremely quickly; he's always a couple of steps ahead of the opponents around him. His close control is excellent and he's great at sharp-angled turns and give-and-goes which allows him to create space for himself in seemingly impossible situations.

He has the most pivotal role in the prem in that position, I can't remember seeing as much play as what comes through Luka, coming through Silva or Mata in the games I've seen them in.

Very very very rarely loses the ball once he's got it as he can jink and turn sharply and create that extra foot or two of space in a flash.

Best creative/active midfielder we've ever had. Only thing that's lacking is more goals.

Just seems to be able to shake players of him even when he is in the tightest of spaces. What more amazing is he doesn't even need to move the ball most of the time to do it.

Whilst I won't call myself an expert - in fact, as a previous football journalist I'm automatically disqualified - you're at the core of it here. Obviously his awareness and technique is key, but it's his balance, weighted movements (not the correct term but I struggle to translate it), and acceleration over the first meter or so that makes it almost impossible to get the ball off him. The moment you make a movement towards him he's changed direction and gone to the other side. So in some ways he creates the space, and then it's maintained partly because the players know that if they get to close he'll go past them.

When I first saw Luka play, I immediately compared him to the late John White.

Both small and frail in appearance, both able to read the game like chess masters and move around the pitch to create those little pockets of space that can leave the opposition totally bewildered and both world class.

It's why John was nicknamed The Ghost of WHL - because he would appear as though from nowhere.

It's a wonderful thing to behold and it's why we have to hold on to Luka Modric.

Hazard is though.

Scm and Chavs going for him in the summer, apparently and before you point out that both may not be in the CL next season remember it's money that talks!

Would facucking love Hazard at Spurs if Luka leaves though!

It is impossible for a potential tackler to predict the speed of movement and direction that Modric will take.
His changes of pace, his availability and his changes of direction are impossible to read.
As somebody said he sometimes throws people off by leaving the ball where it is and 'dancing' round it.
I thought that he was particularly brilliant yesterday, prompted and probed throughout the game and I don't recall a loose pass or him being caught in possession.

Read a stat the other day that he has received the most passes in the EPL this season.

That's quite an accomplishment, especially when you take into consideration that BorisTM said that Modric is "afraid of the ball" and has "a poor first touch."

And also incredible that we haven't heard anything from BorisTM since the last few games Luka has played well.

All players have bad games but Luka has been so good for us since he joined that I can't help but love him. The fact that some people don't rate him makes me laugh as he is probably the best midfielder we have had since the days of gazza. When he goes eventually people will realise what we had.

If you're ever suffering from boredom, you can do a lot worse than reading some of BorisTM's classics. From Modric to Redknapp to Parker....

I don't get this. Modric is a central midfielder who can play on the wing. Eden Hazard is a wing forward, winger or second striker. He can't play on central midfield. Why therefore would Hazard be a replacement for Modric?

Luka isnt going any where he will be offered a bumper pay deal and we will have overtaken the Scum and the other Scum on footballing terms, why leave to go play for a lesser team!!!!!!!

Luka will only go if it raises enough money for kovacic and hazard. As good as he is I'm not sure he can generate that value.... So, you'll just have to live with him gracing WHL for another season - deal with it!

Silva can't play central midfield either but he plays a similar role in the team in that players look primarily to him for creativity.

The news of potentially signing Hazard is just too much...they have to see something bad in it, in order to restore their pessimism-doom equation ratio quota :eek:mg:
