I'm thinking that we might need to get both Ade and Soldado on the pitch at the same time to offer a bigger goal threat. We could probably get a diamond working quite well with the players we have:

Lloris

Walker – Fazio – Verts – Rose

Eriksen – Benji– Dembele

Lamela

Soldado – Ade
You could swap Benji for Capoue, Paulinho for Dembele, and Kane for Ade or Soldado

Or a 4-2-2-2 like what Pellegrini likes to use:

Lloris

Walker – Fazio – Verts – Rose

Benji – Capoue

Eriksen – Lamela

Soldado - Ade

Tried that in FIFA, didn't work.

Fair point but for me, 33 league goals in 3 seasons isn't very good. In total, Ade got 14 last year, Soldado got 11. Ade was praised, Soldado was slated. I think he's incapable of linking up with other players because no one else knows what the feck he's doing, where he's going and why he's doing it. If (and I know it's a big 'if') Soldado can get even half the form he had in La Liga, I believe he'd score more than Ade and would link up better. Hence, I'd rather give him a shot.

Yes but 5 of those goals were in the Europa and a good number in the league (3 I think) were penalties. If you are going to make the crass comparison of Ade v Soldado- in all competitions Soldado scored 11 in 36 appearances , 6 in 28 league v Adebayor scored 14 in 25 appearances and 11 in 21 league .

That is why one gets praised and one gets slated.

Yes it was Soldado's first season and yes he has experience of scoring goals (I'd hope so for the amount of money he cost) but if your point is that all Ade offers is holding up the ball and doesn't score much more than Soldado you're clearly wrong.

The one thing Dembles has to his game is that he is the only one that i frequently see picking up the ball near the centre circle and actually advancing through the middle, prepared to take on the central defenders with the ball at his feet, rather than running it wide to ping it back in, or knocking it past and running onto the loose ball.

It's not something you see often anymore as most fast, attacking clubs tend to play the passing game mostly due to the formations that are popular now, with single strikers being supported by rampaging midfielders, but i like it when he decides he's going rambling through the middle, it's exciting and it takes balls to run at defenders without the sort of pace to knock it past them and run on.

The way i see it, Poch's going to set out the framework for two distinct teams, one league, one everything else. The league one will likely only change for injuries (or serious loss of form), the other will be tinkered with as necessary to rotate players in and out.

We've all seen our initial league lineup, but i like the look of our "second" team too, i just hope that we stay in the other competitions long enough to give the likes of Vorm & Davies time to bed in and find their feet in the squad.

I wuold pick Soldado over Ade purely becuase the link-up play in the final third seems so much better with him in the team.

From what I've seen, it's quicker, more decisive, and more effective.

When did you see that? When we were failing to score goals in the first part of last year? Because after that, he was and has been second fiddle since.

Has to be pure guesswork, based on nothing but a couple of 45 min spells vs. some absolutely useless MLS teams.

Think the big negative in Ade's play is that whilst he holds up the ball quite well he also holds up the play.

Often taking 10 touches before deciding to pass sideways or go on a dribble to nowhere in particular when there was a simple 1 touch ball which could have initiated a quick attack, he likes to be at the centre of everything and it is often to the detriment of the team.

And he can't strike the ball well with his laces.

What about the previous season for Ade?

4 goals all season in PL, what a God striker, makes Ronaldo look like shite.

Don't get you're panties in a twist. It's just my opinion that Soldado would suit us better. Yes, Ade has scored more goals but given he's played in this league for 9 years and in this team for 3 years I'd bloody well expect him to out score someone else who's just arrived. And, by a lot more than 3 goals.

For me, watching Ade is like pulling teeth. I find that he's never in the box when he should be because he's in the channels getting in someone else's way. He holds the ball up but is so slow to do anything with it that the whole attack, usually, breaks down. Sometimes he wants to play, sometimes he doesn't. Which, is why I would like to see Soldado given another shot. If he does jack in 10 games, then by all means, bench him and get rid in January.

Adebayor absolutely drives me round the bend,he hasn't a clue where he should be at any time and the only time he ends up in the right position, it is a complete accident and he is usually offside anyway.
I can't for the life of me understand, how in 4 or 5 games a season he looks world class and for at least 15 games a season looks as though he has never seen a football in his entire life.

Up until now,Soldado has been an utter disaster in a Spurs shirt and we really need a miracle for him to turn things around.I hope for all our sakes that he can but its looking highly unlikely.

Kane is young and hungry and although lacks a bit of pace,he does pick up good positions in and around the box.He has some potential and at least we know he is giving 100% everytime he puts the shirt on.

Unfortunately,I don't think any of our strikers are good enough to allow us to compete with the better teams in the league but we should be good enough to be fighting for 6th spot.

I suspect our formation will eventually become a system and the players will be interchangeable components of that rather than us having a first team line up as such

From what (little) I know about Poch's footballing style I expect to see us line up like

.................GK
RB........ CB....... CB...... LB
............ CM... CM...... CM
.....RWF...... ST.... LWF

And already there are numerous options for most of those positions so the side might be less rigid in terms of personnel game to game and come Jan we'll be looking to add Jo -Rod and MS to the options potentially

The strongest 11 to fill those gaps is a little hard to tell right now because the new manager has a new style and asks different demands of the squad so it will largely depends who responds best to his new tactics etc

Probably 100 different space fans would name 50 or more slightly different lines ups and even individual to individual will change their opinions over the course of the season as players under and over perform respectively

Curious why you think it evolves into a 4-3-3?

Everything that has been done since Pochettino got here, including formations and acquisitions, strongly suggest he is sticking to 4-2-3-1 - with the midfield split between two, pretty defined, groups. 2 CMs who stay behind the attack and support, and 3 AMs who form most of the attack, in partnership with a striker, and two outside backs who provide width.
