Its really bugging me too see seasoned professionals putting in consistently bad performances.
Everyone goes on about confidence but im sure everyone on here who play sport and has lost a few games wants to make up for them loses and battle on and on.

Modric was europes hottest prospect before the Euros.
Bent was a goal machine 2 seasons ago
Bale scored 4/5 goals in his short appearance for us last year
Lennon was amazing at times 2 seasons ago
Bentley....

you can continue...

I just cant see how this can all be a confidence issue.
Footballer's train every day and are professional sportsman. Some of the goals we have conceded is basic stuff!
Why the lack of passion and drive? Everyone grows up hoping to be the next Zidane as a kid and these guys have made it as footballers and show very little..

It's very simple. When the Head Coach doesn't have the first clue, then he can't direct the players on the pitch. As a result their performances suffer, which then causes the loss in confidence, which causes a further loss of form etc, etc, etc.

Ramos out!

not sure if this is correct, but i feel the first 2 games of the season can determine a season for most clubs....

remember last season? remember this season!

anyone get any stats on seasons where we lost first 2 games.... and seasons we won 2 games

maybe first 3 games of season

Its just weird really.

Has a team with players of the calibre of ours ever been in such a dire position?

We all have our views on players like Gomes, Gio, Modric, Pav, Bentley and even the likes of Bent, Jenas, Lennon etc. but these are all highly regarded players that a lot of teams above us would kill for....they cannot all be as atrocious as they are letting on.

Im expecting the players to come out at any stage and shout "Surprise" followed by the explanation that the current team are actually sick children from the make a wish foundation fulfilling their dream of playing for Spurs.

Yes, good points, but the worry for me is not the goals conceded, our goal difference for 6 league defeats is not actually that bad, we've always shipped lots of goals. It's how toothless we are up front - we just don't look like scoring. This is the worst Spurs side I've seen in 30 years of following them. There have been worse squads, but as a team, they're awful.

Now I feel physically sick!

i reakon if all spurs fans in world were at White Hart lane right now and heard that comment on speakers coming from around the ground.... there would be enough sick to fill up the contents within the ground and spew out all the way across to ashburton grove

perhaps one point then is that 4-5-1 doesnt work!?

Ive said it for a while now but i think we should revert to 4-4-2 and play the same team for two games on the trot. May be a start!?

Confidence!

Its as simple as that - our squad's confidence is at rock-bottom and any side facing us is bound to be full of confidence, knowing even a half decent showing guarantees three points.

We need a lucky break - a dodgy penalty decision in our favour, an opponent sent off rather than one of ours, a goalkeeping gaffe. It's gonna take something like that for us win a game and start rebuilding our totally shattered confidence.

The answer isn't that the players are bad. The players that helped us achieve two 5th placed visits aren't sub-standard. Jenas gets a slagging here. Good player if used correctly. The problem is that the formation and tactics haven't suited the players and that has had a knock on effect on player confidence. You can see that from Bale's performance tonight. Absolutely lacking in belief.

That's not strictly true. There are plenty of teams who do play a different formation, like Man U last season pretty much played 4-3-3. However, 4-4-2 is a good system overall and yes, we should at least be trying it.

The problem with the 4-5-1 we keep fielding is that it's a very defensive formation, but one that is a) quite easy to play against if you put men behind the ball and b) is vulnerable to counter-attack, because it requires commitment of men forward in order to attack.

Think its a balance thing as well. we simply dont have the correct players to compliment each other.

Say what you like about the 05 squad but it was balanced and solid throughout.

Two good strikers up front, a speedy all out attacking winger on the right, Davids lying deep doing the donkey work and giving the ball to Carrick to get the moves going with Jenas as an additional attacking outlet.

A strong experienced CB alongside an energetic hard working CB and two proper fullbacks.

The players worked well together. They complemented each other and the sum was great than the parts.

Now the team is all over the place...the transfer policy has been all wrong...we have simply taken whats available as long as they are young, foreign, highly rated and will come here. Our transfer policy is atrocious and somebody needs to be held responsible for that.

How this bunch of very talented players have turned into clueless numpties is indeed the fundamental question.

Bentley with his right foot & Bale with his left have proven top class delivery from setpieces & open play. Until this season when their delivery has been even worse than JJ's - ie shite.

Bale pulls on a Wales shirt, plays with 10 other players who wouldn't even make our bench (well Gunter occasionally), and plays like a superstar. He pulls on a Spurs shirt and looks like a clueless kid destined for the Conference. Which he isn't - he's definitely Top Four quality.

The likes of Gio & Bentley have lost all confidence. Modric & Gomes will soon be scared of their shadows too. All are Top Four quality.

If Ramos has told Zokora to play with discipline, Didier obviously doesn't understand the word.

JJ & Bent still don't understand how to move when a player like Modric gets his head up in possession.

Lennon runs around energetically but ultimately flatters to deceive - as ever.

Even Woodgate looks like he's being dragged down by the mediocrity & fear displayed by those around him.

Bottom line: we have very good players. But we have no team. No understanding, no confidence, no belief, no trust in each other or - from the looks of it - in the coach.

And, unfortunately, I find it very hard to see Juande restoring the confidence of these players now. I'm afraid we need a clean break and a fresh voice calling the shots. Fast.

There is no team. We sold the heart of the side, the players who wanted to be in the spurs team. We also sold a couple of world class forwards who could do damage to any side in the world. So now back to square one again. Does anyone know if Levy had a job at a bank because they are in as much shit as we are. Still we should pick up max points in our next four games.

negativity, a lack of encouragement, a lack of belief in the management's tactics and systems (highlighted by Bentley's little interview). All down to the manager I'm afraid and well, he just doesn't look up to it. I've never seen a manager do so little on the sidelines as his team wilt before his very eyes.

Has anyone noticed that even Poyet doesn't come out on the touchline much anymore?
