I’d have Winks at his best over Capoue all day long

Unfortunately he’s been poor for a while and his performance the other night was absolutely dreadful

On current form I’d have Moussa Saib playing ahead of him!!

He's a one-dimensional player who will do well at a high possession team but struggle elsewhere.

He's tried to make it at Spurs but it's become clear he's not at the right level for us.

Just have to hope we can get a reasonable fee for him. £20m transfer fee and £50k a week off the wage bill will be very welcome.

Same here!

Agreed, an insult to Capoue to suggest Winks is better. Capoue was a better PL player no doubt. Winks won't even start for a top 10 PL club, he isn't getting games in front of the likes of Jack Harrison / Kalvin Phillips / Barkley/McGinn or Rice or Soucek. Nowhere near as good.

Also mad to hear he is being toxic off the pitch too. I wonder who on earth he feels he should be playing in front of? PEH? N'Dombele?! I don't get it. He must have a mighty high opinion of himself, I wonder who is telling him in his ear he deserves to play.
he does start for a top 10 club.

Last time i saw something that bad was against West Ham when Winks was also the culprit. Came on up 3-0 at 70’. Promptly shipped 3 goals. He’s just not a good player. No other way around it. Glad to see the rest of SC finally starting to come around on this.
but........but............but he's a full England international

If Winks is so bad then why is he getting the blame? Surely all the hate and criticism should be aimed at the manager who keeps picking him? I get that people don't rate Winks, but those same posters are not slating Mourinho for picking him. I can fault a player if they look they are not trying, but when they are simply not good enough, that is down to the man picking the team.

For me the decline under Poch started in January the year we got to the CL final. Sissoko and Winks became the main CMs and we struggled from then on. The run to the CL final flattered us and papered over the cracks. Lo Celso, Ndombele and Højbjerg were all signed two years too late.

Well it's either him or Harvey White, Gedson has left the club now because he wasn't good enough so Winks is naturally the next one in line to play. I mean he's part of the playing staff and by all accounts wants to get onto the pitch so why wouldn't you pick him?

What disappoints me most is that when he does play he doesn't seem to try anything different from what got him dropped in the first place. Wednesday was a prime example. He's not been in the team, I would expect him to come on run his balls off and try and grab the game by the scruff of the neck, but no, its just the same old play, slowing the game down with backwards and sideways passes and giving the ball away when he tries to play forward.

Firstly, Jose does not keep picking him, which is probably why he is kicking up a stink behind the scenes. The pecking order in CM appears to now be: Højbjerg, Ndombele, Lo Celso (injured), Sissoko, Winks.

White and Skipp are out on loan.
Gedson loan was cancelled as he was not good enough to get in the first team.

I imagine that Skipp will leapfrog Winks in the summer when he returns from Norwich.

I think Jose has sussed out that Sissoko and Winks are both not good enough for us to compete for top 4 and his recent team selections would support that.

I think he wanted to move in January to get into the England squad for the Euro's, he didn't get his move and now he's upset about it. We keep hearing how he wants more game time but that performance when he came on suggests that he doesn't deserve more game time and his head is elsewhere.

Agree, Winks was playing pretty regularly this season and there has been nothing to prove that he deserves to be playing more from his performance so far.

Winks has hardly played this season, hardly a case of “keeps on picking him.”

I don’t think he was ever the same since the bad injury he suffered. I think it massively knocked his confidence and also he lost a bit of pace. A real shame, and I wish him all the best for the future - it just sadly can’t be with Spurs.

That is a good point. I remember reading when he returned that he would always have some pain when he played.
