I agree Skipp can take that slot from Winks in the squad....but people are also clambering for Dele to be sold and Bale may not return - all three players are not only HG but also club trained. Add to that for UEFA purposes the addition of Rodon would be as a foreign player

i am not convinced that we could replace all three players and maintain a full squad.

Sessegnon coming back too.

The issue really isn't the number of HG players. The issue is the amount of foreign player deadwood we have.

i agree, but we have to drop players from the list if we don't have a minimum number of HG.

If we're incorporating Skipp and Sessegnon that may work but I think Sess will be out on another loan given Davies and Reguilon are still with us. Skipp will be back for sure but I think we still lose 2 HG slot if the 3 aforementioned leave.

Another please we could put in is Tanganga, but he's already in the squad as an U21 this season so we're not really gaining anything (currently 22).

I'm thinking about squad options as well as fulfilling the quota most effectively.

i guess my question is who would you most like to sell from Dele, Sissoko, Winks, Aurier, Doherty, Sanchez, Dier, Toby etc. For me Sissoko offers the least so he goes first and whilst Winks "MAY" have been involved in a leak (i don't think it was confirmed, no?) he's a better option than Sissoko i think

In order it's

1st Winks
2nd Winks
3rd Dele
4th Winks
5th Sissokko
6th Doc
7th Big Dav/Dier(don't care which).

I have been watching Winks' rubbish for years, and was so glad to see mourinho freeze him out and hear ITK say he was likely on his way out. Watching the game on the weekend I sat there much like carra thinking this is a person with no sense of fundamentals and a coward of a player. If you go back and watch the first 15 minutes of the game quickly it gives you a snap shot of exactly what he is, you actually dont need to watch more. Carra's clips are all from the first 15 minutes because it actually provides more then enough examples, and we all know from watching 90 and + a few years nothing changed. Here is 4 screen shots that 1 coach needs to look at to say sell him. View attachment 86200
How is any midfielder in a team that is trying to push for champions league going to leave his CB on an island and not want the ball. He is meant to be a ball player, on the ball at every sniff of an opportunity for that to happen. Yet he hides and provides no angles or options for anyone to play to him. View attachment 86201
Hiding again
View attachment 86202
Hiding again, if you go back to this time stamp and watch the play if goes back between aldy and dier. He just sits in this pocket right behind the strikers offering no angles and no depth to get on the ball. No body shape position to even suggest to a CB yeah ill have this pass.
View attachment 86203
Dier ends up going back to Lloris and some how gets out of it, winks in a mile of space. Any competent playing midfielder is demanding this, screaming to get it. Body position facing forward to go forward. He is sooo closed off, never wants it. He does not want this pass, he is scared to receive it. He is just jogging over to look like he is helping, you watch this play as well and it is pitiful. We are out of the press here and can build something, with him we go back into the press. Shocking. Dier should probably just dump the ball into him here, but if I am the CB and my midfielder doesnt want it, i dont trust to give it to him so why would i ever pass it to him unless he is in so much space he cant fuck it up and lead to a goal.

Hopefully gone in the summer to a prem team so we get some cash, but he will quickly be a championship player after that. Can pick out another 10 images like this in the game im sure and probably hundreds over the last few seasons. Wont be sad to see the back of him for @Trix s reasons and mine.
No more than Hojbjerg hiding in the first two.
Snapshots don't show movement before or after the shot.
or events after and leading up to the shot.
They prove whatever you want to prove.
On your analysis we couldn't give him away.

The 'cowardly' comments from Carragher are a load of nonsense and typical Sky shock jock and he ought to be embarrassed coming out with such bollocks about another pro. Easy to sit there = different when you are setting up side to play against the best side in the World atm - of course you are not going to take chances and what do you think the midfield and defence are saying in the dressing room beforehand 'don't give anything away keep the ball take no risks' - what does Carragher want players to do take chances throw the game away

What this team lacks is Modric
Looks weaker than Winks but is 10 thousand times better defensively, and 20 thousand times better offensively.

I used to think Zokora was shit...i was wrong

He wasn’t in the team this year and allegedly snitched to the press behind his manager and team mates back, and undermined the project behind the scenes. If any of that’s true he’s got to go ASAP.
Yeah that's unacceptable. I do wonder if the club pampered him too much. Never been out on loan has he? First team training as a youngster. All he has known is Tottenham, sounds like he needs to fly the nest and grow as a person.

I understand your reasons but i don't think I can take another season of watching Sissoko. Purely on footballing reasons he has to be first out of the door.

We played like cowards. Period. It was embarrassing. So much so, our poor fans cheered getting a corner like we had scored. I barely remember us having the ball. It was a pathetic showing from players that get paid so handsomely each week, yet they can’t hold the ball for more than 2 seconds and end up playing it long or turning back to Lloris, because we can’t muster more than 3 passes or drive forward into space nor pass and move. The lack of showing for the ball in a cup final was criminal. The stats showed that we played like a relegation battling team. That first half in particular was embarrassing. Only outfield player for us that truly showed no fear and looked like they wanted to make things happen was Lucas.

N’Dombele and Lamela should have been playing that final. Winks had no business being on that pitch, let alone for the whole 90mins.

I don't think we did and cowardly not at all

the side all season and no matter who has played has struggled to pass the ball to each other - and then we play the best team in the World at and people expect them to go out toe to toe with them do me a favour. Add to that they were superb in the game we had to keep it tight it was the only chance we had to try and sneak something at a set piece a bit of fortune or a bit brilliance from one of the forwards made sense

The stats as ever are largely meaningless the game was about staying in it the only stat that matters is the final score - if you play a more expansive game against them they would have ripped us apart staying at 0-0 for eighty minutss we had a chance - it might be a bit unpalatable to some but City are head and shoulders above us and almost every other team in Europe to go out try to play risk taking football would have been the height stupidity , had we get beat 4 or 5 Mason is made to look a mug and then you can be embarrassed but staying in the game and maybe just maybe we might have sneaked it and everything in the world is rosy.

The trouble is we have had 18 months of the worst management and tactics i have seen from a Spurs manager with players confidence destroyed by the negativity and suddenly people expect ius to go out and be expansive

The outpouring about Winks is all a bit patheric imo and people expecting half the team to be sold in a summer where money is going to be a premium are being dreadfully naive - would you leave Tottenham for a paycut ?

The guy has somehow recently built a reputation as a defensive cover specialist yet is always making the mistake to concede the goal whilst jogging

Who? Sissoko?

I think you do him a disservice. Sometimes he likes to handball in the first minutes of the biggest game in years. Sometimes he likes to ignore his man in cup finals. Sometimes he is just hopelessly out of position, but most of the time he is shinning the ball like a total donkey.

This guy is utter shit. Mourinho didn't get much right but at least he saw Winks wasn't up to it and bombed him out. Does nothing apart from run around the pitch like a streaker waiting to be caught by the stewards. I think I'd seriously have that Ali Dia guy who somehow bagged a game at Southampton under Souness in the 90s over Winks.
