Maybe this will be our Courtinho moment...
It won’t be. £86 million pound is nothing in todays market. It sounds a lot doesn’t it. But then you realise we are paying nigh on £40 million for a defender with one season of top flight football under his belt. And that we paid £60+ million for Richarlison last summer. By the time we’ve bought another defender and a young striker, that £86 million is gone.

£86 million doesn’t build you a team. Coutinho went for nearly twice that amount. Liverpool were also in a far stringer position to exploit that windfall.

Fuck Bayern. And, fuck Kane + his imbecilic entourage too.

I'm sorry, but this is the second season, he has hung this 'will he / won't he' soap opera over the club. And it's bullshit. It has directly impacted the new coach's ability to fully assess, implement his ideas, and bring in new players -- as this is a massive cloud that looms large over the entire club, hugely impacting all facets related to preparation.

Look, I get that these deals are complicated. They take time to resolve. But I resent how it has played out. As the ultimate losers are the fans.

Inevitably, this team will be unprepared (bordering on unfocused) when the season starts. And the fans will suffer as a result. All because of one person.

Of course I want Harry to stay. But I find it annoying that this is the second pre-season in the last three years where his actions and that of his suitors, have been an unneeded impediment during a critical inflection point.
That's what happens when you have a world class player. It's Spurs that have fucked everything up by not trying to match his ambition, or going about that in a cack-handed way. This doesn't happen to other players because nobody wants them or we'd be ok to let them go.

"His actions" have simply been to not sign a contract with us and be willing to talk to any ambitious club that is interested in him.

You might as well be waving your fist at the clouds as to be railing against Kane and his suitors.

Obvious Bayern tried to call our (Levy's) bluff.
And Levy didn't blink.

Just can't wait for the window to close whatever the outcome. (Although personally would prefer H stayed as the money means nothing to me)

See I see this part slightly different. I think it would be easier for the other new players to settle in to a side where the main CF is basically a guarantee of 25 goals as it takes the pressure off. Then you are just needing to fit that one player into an already settled side.
This is what I was hoping for. It will take time to transition in this first season under Ange. With Kane you can win games without playing well as we've done for the last few years. It would be like if we had Bale for that first season under Poch. You then have everything in place to handle the loss next year if he doesn't sign. Particularly useful if you sign Veliz and get a good loan this season. Then you already have that succession going forward.

And why do you build a team around a 30 year old who doesn't appear to want to be here anymore, or at least is keeping his options very much open.

You build around a core of committed and talented individuals who'd run through brick walls for you.

Who'll put the team above all us.
Right let's get this straight.. You don't think Kane has or will not continue to run through walls if he stays....

This f**king fanbase is Levy's dream, if this thread is anything to go buy....

He (Levy) can't believe his luck that so many of you worry about how a a world class home grown player would apply himself in his final year of a contract and would rather cash in..

Probably to many Madri's and Rum & cokes (for me) & should stay out of this thread..... but f**k me far to many FM (pc gamers) accountant t**t Levy loving fans still doubt the ledged that is Harry Kane and are blind to what a f**king privileged it would be to have him play in a Spurs shirt for one more season.... Regardless of f**king financial implications..

But then they weren't at risk of losing him for sod all the following year.

Love the positivity and all great points but if we reject this then as strong as our squad might be with another CB signing on top of VDV, I still don’t think it’s strong enough and that we’ll have adapted to Ange’s tactics quick enough to get top4 or win a trophy in which case take the £100mil for him now because we ain’t getting it next summer when he leaves on a free.
I still hold out some hope that if he stays and we do well then he might extend. But even if we don't sell him now, and we do the business we've done anyway (again, caveat, and another CB), and then he walks next year...then...what are we spending the 100M on while out of the CL anyway? The rest of the squad will be 90% there already. We can afford a decent no.9 if that's one of only a couple of purchases we need to make even even if he walks for free. There's too much focus on this 100M, imo. His goals could earn us 20-40m this year if we kept him and do well. Would you sell Harry Kane for £60m?

To dare is to do, imo.

That’s as maybe. But people need to stop kidding themselves that this is going to pay for a rebuild. Without Kane we currently look no stronger than Leicester did going into last season. I’m not saying we’ll end up where they did, but I can’t see us getting Europe without him. We’ll be 8th -12th.

No fuse but the exit is being negotiated now it’s down to levy and Jan meeting tomorow that’s the latest !! We have been on the phone to operation Kane (players reps and clubs ) all day putting things in place . There will be a lot of journos talking about strikers/forwards over the coming hours .
To me that looks like its over. He's on his way out.

Would definitely be interested in seeing your comparison between this squad and Leicester's last season tbf!

It wouldn’t be a transfer saga without one of these stories but my mate genuinely just told me his misses sorted out doggo passports for Kane’s labs, never thought I’d be that guy but here we are.

Won’t be offended by the funny ratings 😂

How far can this kid go?

Will he be a decent premier league striker or is he a little more special than that?
Well if he is going then bloody thank you for all the many amazing memories and goals Harry, you’ve been a once in a generation talent and it’s a shame the clubs football decisions didn’t match your quality and ambition, good luck and hopefully see you back in our famous Lillywhite one day.

I appreciate the rum&coke-fuelled rant! But alas, I'm not a gamer, nor an accountant, nor a lover of Levy. It certainly has been a privilege to have Kane play for us for so long and it's not like I'm going to be against him if he stays this year. But I will feel absolutely fucking sick to the stomach if I see him go to United for free next year (remember they've just signed a forward who is nowhere near the finished article and still won't be next season). I also happen to think that Ange may struggle to impose his single way of playing on the club whilst this is all going on - remember this issue doesn't just disappear once the transfer window closes.

Dog passport ITK. We love to see it.

Text one of your mate's missus' dog contacts and get some juice for us would you?

Don’t fret people, it won’t be our coutinho moment because we won’t spend that money on positions we need, we will spend it on 5 players we don’t

I can see why you'd think that, but this is my honest and rational viewpoint. In an ideal world, I'd love to see him stay and lead us to success, but I'm trying to live in the real world. This argument that the very best players can play in any system was also said of Gerrard, Lampard and Scholes for England, and look how that worked out.
Sorry but that’s not a good comparison. Saying 3 players who played similar roles couldn’t play together is not the same as saying one highly adaptable player doesn’t work in different systems. 3 attacking central midfielders don’t work in a 4-4-2 for incredibly obvious reasons.

Do you like it? I bought it off the site admin. I can get you one for £30 if you are interested.
Hell yeah. Just spoke to DL about this and other pressing matters. He advised I put in a counter offer. £5 all in spread over 5 years with a loyalty kick back of £10 due to me after the term. Please put to the admin and let me know if there is traction.
