See I see this part slightly different. I think it would be easier for the other new players to settle in to a side where the main CF is basically a guarantee of 25 goals as it takes the pressure off. Then you are just needing to fit that one player into an already settled side.
Genuinely don’t understand how this can be disagreed.

mots a formula we saw for years under fergie, time and again, won everything constantly doing it.

You reap what you sow. The only reason we are at this juncture is Levy and the board. We had a great thing going under Poch and they fucked it up/reverted to type. Look at arsenal this summer, from a position of strength aiming high as they can muster. That's how big boys act. We are back in our comfort zone now - Pott shots inc

If Kane does stay, I will be fascinated to see how Ange adapts his system for a world class striker who is nonetheless slow and fairly poor at pressing (granted he's amazing at basically everything else). And as I said, I would love to be proven wrong and it all works out swimmingly with Kane remaining as our spearhead past this season. I'm just struggling to see it. Also, I'd already prepared myself for his departure two years ago, so people arguing that my stance is a defence mechanism are barking up the wrong tree in that regard.

So this is bs?
Who knows. I have deliberately not asked since about 2pm as it was just going round in circles. I've spoken to a number of others who get snippets both on here and privately. Some think it was getting close, and others believe it was still quite a way off what Daniel wanted.

I'll dip my toe back in tomorrow if nothing's become clear, and see what my guy at the clubs perspective is.

It's all very well selling Kane. For most normal clubs that would be the right approach. However, given our previous - when it comes to spending a big dollop of cash for replacement players - I have misgivings.

Our transfer record in recent years has been patchy. And that's being fucking generous.

If Levy does turn them down, I wonder if they will come back with more? Deadline or no deadline. They must realise this is probably their only chance to sign him.

Fuck Bayern. And, fuck Kane + his imbecilic entourage too.

I'm sorry, but this is the second season, he has hung this 'will he / won't he' soap opera over the club. And it's bullshit. It has directly impacted the new coach's ability to fully assess, implement his ideas, and bring in new players -- as this is a massive cloud that looms large over the entire club, hugely impacting all facets related to preparation.

Look, I get that these deals are complicated. They take time to resolve. But I resent how it has played out. As the ultimate losers are the fans.

Inevitably, this team will be unprepared (bordering on unfocused) when the season starts. And the fans will suffer as a result. All because of one person.

Of course I want Harry to stay. But I find it annoying that this is the second pre-season in the last three years where his actions and that of his suitors, have been an unneeded impediment during a critical inflection point.

I’d actually say the last few years we’ve got far more right than we have wrong.

The issue has been hiring managers who don’t fit the players we’ve signed.

Ndombele & possibly Gil however do seem to have been a bit of a waste of money really but overall the last few seasons we’ve made some fairly astute or solid signings imo and I don’t think we’d piss the Kane money up the wall.

Bayern will be bidding again, guaranteed
I've heard three versions of the "deadline" story in that all three parties have imposed this so called deadline. I don't know which one is true or if it's multiple versions that are, or none at all.

One thing I will say with a large degree of certainty, is if it's DL that's set it, that will be that unless the numbers then become astronomical, because that's just who he is. If he's said it's 100 mil sterling by midnight tonight, if it's not hit it won't be 100 mil sterling tomorrow that's for sure.

I'm in agreement but hopefully it's a failure of imagination on our part and Ange will find a way of making it all work seamlessly and play to Kane's strengths if he does stay.

de Ven seems done, Veliz seems done. We need a single other CB option and the squad is stacked almost everywhere and the cup overfloweth with players to get rid of. If we can just hold firm now and tell Bayern to get to fuck, this would be the strongest selection of options we've ever had going into a season (with a single other CB). I hope that Daniel went to bed in the tightest of whiteys and can tell them to get bent.

Different yeah but a lot lot of city’s success is built on what happens when they don’t have the ball
Agree - but City's pressing doesn't require the same energy and stamina from every player on the pitch that Klopp's style did. Every single one of their forwards were pressing monsters, whereas Pep's system allows for players like Mahrez, Grealish, and even Haaland. But Ange's system is not Pep's. Could it be? Let's fucking hope so!

Love the positivity and all great points but if we reject this then as strong as our squad might be with another CB signing on top of VDV, I still don’t think it’s strong enough and that we’ll have adapted to Ange’s tactics quick enough to get top4 or win a trophy in which case take the £100mil for him now because we ain’t getting it next summer when he leaves on a free.

Yeah I'd 💯 believe that re Levy

I'd guess Bayern did leak a deadline and then thought better of it...they're not prepared to walk away yet.

Off topic and just for my understanding, why do your posts show with a blue background?
Man, how have you been here since 2012 and not know that our resident ITK's, or those that may share info have blue backgrounds in the transfer section?

It's to make their posts stand out so you can skim through and potentially not miss any juicy nuggets.
