It's a big loss and another reminder that we can't push onto the next level under this owner. We'll just keep going round in circles losing world class players when they want to win things. Still going to look forward to the new look team without him. It's just a shame we didn't win anything with him and without him our chances to do so get even lower.
Exactly. It’s a massive L for Levy if he sells, it’ll be spun as the right thing to do by many, but it’s sums up our ownership under Enic . Close but no cigar.

We then end up getting nothing for him and a years delay in adjusting to life without him.
See I see this part slightly different. I think it would be easier for the other new players to settle in to a side where the main CF is basically a guarantee of 25 goals as it takes the pressure off. Then you are just needing to fit that one player into an already settled side.

Your comments smack of a defence mechanism. I’ll be gutted if he does go, but I’m not going to invent reasons why it’s a good thing ahead of time to delude myself. Kane can play on any system, and he’s one of the best players in the world. You might prefer the cash, but stop trying to tell yourself it’s somehow a benefit on the pitch if he leaves. It isn’t
I can see why you'd think that, but this is my honest and rational viewpoint. In an ideal world, I'd love to see him stay and lead us to success, but I'm trying to live in the real world. This argument that the very best players can play in any system was also said of Gerrard, Lampard and Scholes for England, and look how that worked out.

Fair enough.

If he stays I'm interested to see if Harry stays higher as opposed to dropping deep like he has done.

I think he'll go though and this deal gets done.

“What do you mean they haven’t accepted our offer?

Call Flor-head to have him spread the word there was never a midnight deadline!”

Or the ‘new’ team over rely on Kane like we have done as a team for the last few years rather than taking more ownership themselves and spreading the goals around the team a lot more.

Not trying to convince you. No right or wrong when none of us have a crystal ball.

I certainly get what you're saying.

But I'm looking at it slightly longer term, on the premise Kane won't sign, as just simply we're better off with him in the side for this season.

From that point of view I'd agree with you, we are.

If I thought Levy would show the ambition needed to convince him to sign I'd be all over it.

But he won't and never has.

With that in mind I'm looking at getting on with life without him ASAP and him ending up outside the PL, and ending the saga.

If he stays you think that won't end?...it'll be relentless.

We could end up in the top 4 next season if he stays, but there's a fair chance we won't with how competitive it is now.

We then end up getting nothing for him and a years delay in adjusting to life without him.

We could still finish top 4 without him with the necessary strengthening at the back.

I know that should be happening anyway but I don't trust the Club to get the necessary quality in.

Current situation is certainly one that would soften the blow, no doubts about it.

My position is that we'll never be able to buy a striker of the stature of Harry Kane, so selling him would be particularly gutting.

Yes we might get lucky in a young player developing but our richer rivals have spent ridiculous amounts in the last 5-7 years on forwards and Aguero and Haaland aside (Salah if WFs count), none have got anywhere near Kane's level.

Us replacing Kane adequately is pretty concerning when put through that lens. Almost as big a gamble as trying to convince him to sign a new deal!

I genuinely don't know one way or the other.

Fucking working tomorrow so up at 4.30am. No doubt I'll wake up to 50 new pages and have to go through them one by one before I can get up and have a wash and go to work. Guess I'll be late tomorrow.
You’re the hero that keeps this country moving. Happy Saturday my friend!

I’d just be so glad he’s not going to Man.U or City, still not over Sheringham going to Man.U and that was when we were crap, we are half decent now so Kane going to one of them on a free next summer would be absolutely horrible compared to getting £100mil now and he goes abroad to Bayern.

I'd argue that it's not the same intensity of pressing as peak Klopp's Liverpool.
Different yeah but a lot lot of city’s success is built on what happens when they don’t have the ball

Thing is I'm not going to mope about it if he goes. I'll get behind what ever team we put out just like I always have.

If he goes he goes that's football and I've accepted that decades ago. That doesn't mean I can't think it was the wrong decision to let it happen.
Off topic and just for my understanding, why do your posts show with a blue background?

Oh well, I’m done for tonight, look likes it’s the usual stalemate between the clubs.

Fun chatting guys, thanks as always and good night.
