Has the club moved on at all under Enic?

Harry Kane leaving because he can’t win trophies at spurs.

same as berbatov leaving in 2009

I don’t care how much profit Enic make. I care about my football club being competitive and winning trophies
Nothing has changed in 15 years except the ticket prices.
Well, Yes. Just not as much as we'd like, and it's stalled.

We are a more successful (In terms of average league positon, Qualifying for Europe), well run club financially than we we're pre ENIC. Missing out on the champions league being disappointing would have been hilarious in the 90's while we were a mid table club.

We've just hit a ceiling, and then floundered a bit, as we didn't break through it, so lost all momentum.

I think you need that megabucks thing to get the first 2 or 3 BIG signings through the door - once it's established the big boys will come to you, it's more likely to be seen as an actual destination.

Until then, we are in 3-6 place Limbo, with the occasional bad season of 8th again.

I’m truly amazed that Harry isn't staying for one more year, to get another 25-30 goals and a bit closer to shearers record then leaving on a free, to whatever club he wants and with a big signing on fee.

if I were his agent, I’d be advising exactly this.

Madrid should be his next club, a true giant and one that is likely to win the CL.

To me, it is a really bizarre move.

That way he can come back in a few years and beat the record.

Madrid are waiting for Mbappe on a free next season. Barca have Lewa and are also skint. Bayern are the third biggest/most prestigious club after those two on the continent (ahead of PSG imo, and the Italian clubs are not as strong as they were a few years back).

A deadline hasn’t been set because Levy wants to sell. No way he lets £100m+ pound walk away for nothing in 11 months time.
He be willing to wait until the very last second of the transfer window to get the sale done. If not this transfer window then he’ll still be trying to get something in January.

starting to look a bit like the berbatov saga back in 2008.

I think the glass ceiling is real. I don’t see anyone who isn’t financially doped regularly challenging for the
League going forward. There’s no way we can compete with City, Chelsea or Newcastle financially. Arsenal have been spending big lately but I don’t know if that’s a sustainable model for them. Liverpool did the same for a while and now have had to cut their cloth accordingly.

The thing that's pissing me off about this whole saga isn't that we're about to sell Kane who's entering the last year of his contract or risk losing him on free next summer, that makes sense.
It's the years of bad footballing decisions which has allowed this situation to arise.

Let’s be honest here Rob, we have never and probably never will shop at the big boy table. Look at our record transfer fee vs the 6 teams around us who we are competing with. It’s embarrassing to say the least.
Because we dont pay the wages, and never have.
The irony of keeping him to get back into a Competition we dont try to win, and haven't succeeded in with him, because we we scrimp every penny on his supporting cast.
Bet he cant wait to get away

I reckon the summer City pushed for him and we resisted was our last chance saloon in Harry’s eyes. He (eventually) knuckled down and gave us his all.

Conte coming in gave a whiff of hope but we all know how that ended…

Completely understand him not believing in a promise to give us another chance and it will all be different.

The difference for me now compared to then is that now I won’t begrudge him leaving at all. He’s given us his best years and we’ve given him nothing.

All the best, H.

Liverpool and Arsenal are still doing it 100 times better than we are.

Bayern are by far the 3rd most prestigious club on the continent. I do think its a strange move for him, but equally I do appreciate we are massively in a goldfish bowl these days with regards to the PL, English players just do not really move abroad.

Really hope he wins f-all there though, all those Kane "haters" from other clubs and the media will have a field day even if its true they win everything anyway. Just another stick to beat us with

I was hoping the Shaktar game might be a chance to see him play for us one last time... to say goodbye
but he's not gonna be risked is he?

He's wasted the last two years of a short career not competing for anything (and that's a minimum just counting from when he went on strike, he couldve wanted out earlier), and may not want to spend another year on that path.

That and the threat of injury without a long term contract, it doesnt feel that bizarre. If Bayern are the only serious option on the table it's still a very attractive offer.

The thing that is baffling me is why is the meeting needed at all? What are they trying to prove with all the noise about it, who does it benefit? Just seems weird, just fucking ring him.

How much of it is down to us "wanting" him to go to get a fee? Obviously there needs to be some interest from the player to go to Bayern otherwise it doesn't happen but regardless it doesn't sound like we're happy to keep him if he isn't signing a new deal. In that scenario him refusing to leave just creates a messy situation where everyone comes out of it looking bad. Obviously there are loads of ifs given we're working on limited information but that's my best assessment of the situation.
I think AG said something along the lines of Kane is very aware of his legacy, his love for the club and the fans and he doesn't want to harm that, so if a move came along that he liked AND Spurs felt a deal was in their best interests, then he'd be open to it, while also being open to staying for the season.

I'll repeat myself, imo Kane leaving now to go abroad for a fee is the best thing for Ange and his system, for the club and for the fans who would hate to see him in another PL teams colours.

I think all the noise about him being open to signing a new deal if it went well under Ange is just good PR on his part, If he truly wanted to stay forever he'd have signed a new contract or at the very least he'd have told the board he'd sign if they bought a certain calibre of player this window - he must have been pleased to see us sign Maddison but he was still talking to Bayern, i don't think a new defender is changing that, we aren't winning the league in the foreseeable are we and he knows that - we haven't got to this point because Harry is very undecided and open to all possibilities, Harry has absolutely decided he's off either now or this time next year and it suits everyone to do it now, for a fee and abroad.

Yeah. Already Manchester City have won five times in the last six seasons. During the last ten seasons, Man City and Chelsea have won it eight times between them. Arsenal have not won the league in nearly twenty years. Liverpool have won it just once in the last thirty years. The chances are if we ever do win it, it will be a one-off among decades of dominance by the doped clubs. That's just the reality.

Where we should be doing better is winning cups. But Kane may have wanted to leave to win league titles anyway. Various Arsenal and Liverpool players left to join more dominant clubs despite winning trophies with Arsenal and Liverpool.
