All issuing this publicly has done is firstly try and absolve Daniel of blame and secondly open the door to Man Utd.

I think perhaps United have offered already and hit the magic number hence this coming out now. That's the logical explanation or we are even more stupid than I think.

Ange has a reputation for quickly building his own squad, and he has already indicated that he has not decided on the captaincy for this season. I don 't think he will be phased about Harry leaving provided he gets the players he wants in. I live in Melbourne and I watched his league sides and the national team; he is a very determined character and he would rather have players, including a captain that are fully committed to the club. Obviously he would like to keep Kane, but not if he thinks Kane is sold on United or City on a free.
Furthermore if Harry appears half -arsed at any stage he will be benched.

You said "Why would the club issue a briefing that portrays the club ownership in a bad light?" yes? Well if you remember a couple of months ago they issued a briefing that portrayed themselves in a bad light, which I linked from multiple club mouthpieces. So discounting this because of that logic obviously doesn't work since they've already done it, so keep an open mind about it. I don't know if it's true but given how the club have already acted this summer it could be true
Your comparison just doesn’t stack up. When the JN situation came to an end, the decision to move on wasn’t pinned to Lewis or Levy personally. In regards to Kane, there are lots of ways the club could spin the fact that Kane is going that wouldn’t lay the blame at the feet of Lewis and / or Levy. If you think the club is briefing the press - and by extension telling fans - that this is a decision made by Lewis personally, you’re mad. Even if it were true, his name wouldn’t be anywhere near the story. This is the press doing what they do.

I don't believe for one minute Daniel Levy has been ordered to sell Kane I simply suspect the decision has been taken to sell Kane as any hope he will sign a new contract is long gone. The rest is paper talk.

Lewis never gets involved with transfers or pretty much anything on the football side

Plus he can’t, he has no legal say in the running of the club. His previous ownership of the club is now looked after by two trustees based in the Bahamas.

I don't get it. Why are so many convinced this is a leak from the club and subsequently angry about it? Is there anything pointing to the club leaking this?

Why would the club leak it to Manchester journalists instead of the usual suspects? Why would a leak from Spurs turn Lewis into some sort of villain? It makes zero sense.

Does give the feeling of a stage managed process to limit the PR damage on the board. Spurs reject 3-4 bids publicly and say they did everything to keep Kane (which I genuinely believe they have) but ultimately the deal has been in place a while.

I think maybe United have hit the magic number and this has all become a PR game. I might be over thinking it but it kind of makes sense to me.

Thing is that it does seem unlikely that he'd ever sign a new contract. The problem is that we can only be creative with finances - if he yearns competing for top trophies, that isn't something that we can do anything about in the immediate future.

He is going to Bayern. Levy won't sell to United and currently it's highly doubtful they could even afford him anyway.

They just got an FFP fine from uefa. They owe £280 million in transfer fees and just spent £100 million more on Onana and Mount. I don’t see how they have the money for him this window and are struggling to buy Hojlund from Italy because they are £20 million off the fee for him. £100 plus million for Kane, no, can’t see it myself.

Precisely. There is nothing of substance in any of the press reports other than “it’s understood” or “sources say”. When they all say the exact same thing you know nobody is actually talking to anyone within the club. This is just more shit stirring by the press.

These tabloids are doing exactly what they have set out to do by printing stories like this; turning Spurs fans mindsets towards their greatest ever player into one where they want him gone.

It’s absolutely crazy IMO.

Levy and co cannot be trusted with money, we have seen that before. I do not want HK to leave, no matter how much money we are offered. He is irreplaceable on and off the pitch and we most certainly will not be able to attract a top European striker this season. FWIW, I don’t rate Richarlison at all in this role.

No chance, they don't have the sort of money available to buy Kane at the moment.

It’s had that feeling the entire summer, but when heart rules head people will see alternative narratives and reasons. As I’ve said for a number of weeks - this boils down to something very very simple

a club and board who are solely focused on a profitable business will never risk losing approx £100m for the sake of a season.
It just needs to happen now - just publicly put a number out there (like West Ham did) and that’s that. It could be over so quickly - no bollocks in the media, no twists or agendas - just give some clarity and move forward.
It we won’t do that - why - because it weakens our hand from a business perspective.

4th July: - I’d say Charlie is more likely using Bayern as a stalking horse to flush out previously interested clubs such as United and Madrid.

I buy United’s ‘we are withdrawing our interest’ comments as much as Levy’s ‘he’s not for sale at any price’ line. This is all posturing and I would not be surprised if we start hearing rumours of those other clubs coming back in soon.

If I had to guess, I’d say Levy will give Kane a deadline to sign a new contract or will listen to offers.

Levy has said he will never let a player do a Sol ever again.

And out of interest - when he leaves next season for free who would you replace him with with zero fund contribution. Not looking to argue - just interested in the alternative view point

That’s what I find strange from some of our fans. Then next season when he leaves for free and we replace him with a 30-40m in proven stricker they’ll be up in arms.

I dont think anyone is angry at Kane. I'm angry at the board and thats it. Levy can't be trusted with money but i would rather we had more money and at least had a chance at getting someone decent.

I find it so funny we always think our club leak this our club leak that. Our club hardly (they do, but rarely) put up a statement saying this and that rumours are untrue. Journalists and media are so free to write whatever shits that sell knowing us.

But I must say I got to hand it to them for thinking they are brilliant in thinking they could bring out Lewis into this saga, when Lewis doesn't give a fuck at all to who and how we buy or sell players. Never, ever.
