The idea that Charlie Kane will only take meetings if he can ride his bike into the office is just perfect.

I can’t get my head around the fact we don’t let him go. With the money we could buy a world class striker and start a new era under Ange. If he stays and walks for free next summer where we going to get the funds for a world class striker?

I just think it’s time now. I love Harry, but no point keeping a player who doesn’t want to be here. Time to build for the future.

As I said "kitchen sink" and we are prepared to be creative with it in order to get him to commit.

Call me optimistic but I can actually see Harry staying if we do 'throw the kitchen sink' at it. Unless he's adamant on leaving which doesn't quite seem to be the case this time (I'm sure he would if Pep wanted him).

I'd be shocked if he wasn't impressed by Ange, and I'm sure he'll be really happy with the Maddison signing. Might need some creative clauses in there to ensure he's not fully 'locked in' were things to not go well over the next 2-3 years. Stay here, lead the team in this new rebuild, making big money in the process. Perfect conditions to beat Shearer's record in that time-frame and still have scope for move abroad after if needed.

Out of interest, what "world class" striker would you buy with the money....

The issue is we have no European football, and Kane wants to play CL every season. A player of his calibre deserves to be, so he can showcase his talent on the biggest stage. There is a good chance that’s the reason he wants to go Bayern.

He isn’t Spurs through and through, not like us anyway

It’s a narrative peddled by the club
over the years, he’s out for No 1. Not saying that’s wrong, it’s his and his family’s living.

It’s different for pros being involved in the game for so long. Only one “top” player in recent memory that I would say was a real fan of his club was Noble.
If a top club had come in for Noble he would have gone to them too

Same as Grealish did

Kane if he had no affinity for the club At all would have been gone after his first 2-3 break out seasons

My assumption is we are willing to offering him a get-out (release clause) should he commit and we fail to meet his objectives.

Probably also things like % of revenue generated from merchandise sales with his name/image etc. Other players have done similar (not at spurs to my knowledge), to increase their pay.

If they were that serious I hope conversations about stock, options or phantom stock have been had internally.
I wondered about this, though don’t know enough to know how realistic it is. But there’s potential for great mutual benefit if Harry has long-term skin in the game with THFC.

The problem is that any man with a motorbike and skidmarks their office is undoubtedly too stupid to understand it and would most likely invalidate any cliff causes when he runs his mouth

Find me a world class striker, costing around £80 million, who wants to play for Spurs / not have European football this season. That venn diagram is coming up blank!

Keep him, he's under contract and he's worth more to us for another season than he would be to sell.

Which world class striker?

The two that are touted around Vladhovic & David are far from world class

There are a number of things that the club can offer to him (at fairly low cost, really) in terms of a "legacy" contract that we could put together that could be pretty compelling, you'd think, as not many such contracts have probably ever existed for any player.

Statue, stock, name a stand after him, partnership on charitable foundations, seat on the board, maybe a tie in in some way for if an NFL team ever rocks up in terms of financial interests or otherwise, and on and on.

It's an interesting concept if we really are looking at a "kitchen sink" package.

Not proven in the Pl but we could afford someone like Osimhen or Vladovic with the money. Again not proven, but they do have the right attributes.
@olliec assuming that either would want to join us, what has the 'world class' but 'not proven' Vladovic or Osimhen got that the proven, world class, club and England leading goalscorer and in situ striker, Harry Kane hasn't. Apart from maybe age?

You should join Skysports.
