If we get Conte it will mean we will have agreed to back him, it will also likely mean Kane is going nowhere.

I think Conte coming in that door, Kane would suddenly find his form again for sure.
Conte just seems to get his strikers to play well. Sonny and Kane already have a great on-field rapport and understanding, looking forward to seeing how Conte can take that up another level.

Am I right in thinking Conte bigged Kane up when he was at Chelsea and Poch got a little annoyed

Yeah! During his spell at Chelsea, Conte lavished praise on Kane - admitting that he'd "love" to sign the striker if he was afforded the opportunity to do so.

“For me, Kane, now is one of the best strikers in the world," Conte said back in 2017.

“If I had to buy one striker I would go to Kane. He is a complete striker.”

Most recent praise from Conte for Kane during Euro 2020.

"Many praise Harry Kane for his ability to go get the ball and play with the team, such as with the equaliser against Denmark," said Conte during his work as a pundit during Euro 2020.

"Of course, he’s good at that too, but it’s in the box where he’s clinical and as a coach, I would always keep him in there because he’s devastating."

Maybe 4 years ago. I worry about him now. Not sure he’ll ever be that player with us again

If this appointment doesnt put a rocket up his arse then nothing will. Same for a few other players as well.
Trouble is, if Kane now suddenly starts running around and scoring, in my eyes he's going to look an even bigger ****.
He's done himself so much harm over these past few months, completely proving that his "love for the club" was just pr bullshit.

I'm not for one second defending him because his performances have been, quite frankly, very unprofessional but I honestly think we will see a changed man.

Couple the disappointment of not leaving (possibly in his eyes his only chance of moving) with 2 years of serious regression at all levels of the club. Then the new manager is an out-of-work, bang average, 7th choice candidate and his concerns about lack of ambition are proven right. To make matters worse, the new manager turns out to be even more disappointing than he looked on paper!

And these are his prime years; he said all along he wants to be challenging for honours and this season he must've thought "I'm stuck at a mid-table club, playing dreadful football and zero chance of improvement". For an ambitious top level footballer, that must be a pretty tough realisation. And yes, I know he signed the contract.

However it'll go one of two ways; he'll be impressed that we've got one of the best coaches in the world, he'll knuckle down and get back to his old self. Or he'll tell Conte he still wants out, knowing that Conte doesn't want uninterested players around and hoping he gets his wish. Then we really will see if he loves the club.

Will be really interested to see if Kane starts performing again now.

Has it been a mentality team or is he just a bit knackered as a player?

Hopefully us getting a world class manager will buck him up and get him performing like last season and then a couple of quality additions in January to reinforce it.

I’ve also kept faith with Kane as my ff captain and also have Son, so really hoping they’ll start combining to get me some more points like last season! ??

the Kane-Conte relationship will be one to watch. i can only imagine that one of Conte's first pieces of business is to figure out where Kane's mind is at and then come up with a plan to getting it sorted. One would also think that Kane has a mixed mind about all this. He was ready to leave but this appointment shows the ambition he has been looking for. And if Conte can bring him in from the cold while creating a system that plays to his strengths, one could see a rejuvenated harry that contributes to the dressing room rather than poisoning it. The optimistic part of me thinks that Conte is the man to get Harry Kane all in again.

Run
Turn up for training when your employer requests it.
Show for the ball
Shoot or head at least towards the general direction of the goal
Make attacking incisive runs
Be a leader on the pitch
Stop sulking
Remember Tottenham are paying him a huge salary and because of this he needs to put some fucking effort in !

oh and get a proper fucking agent !! That should be enough for Kane to be getting on with.

Thought this was a @JimmyG2 post!

If I had to take a complete guess, which I will!! I reckon Kane will bury the hatchet and knuckle down until January/The Summer - when he’ll be sold to City and all the funds will go towards a war chest for Conte

I mean, Kane could just have looked bad under Nuno for the same reason almost everyone looked terrible under him and will probably look good under Conte for the same reason others will improve. I don’t think it will be because of ‘motivation’ or whatever, it’s more likely that Conte will just be a better manager, better tactician than anything.

Said it in the summer, but Conte is perhaps the only manager that I think could persuade Kane to stay at Spurs and sign a new deal.

If, come the summer, City are no longer interested in signing Kane and we have Conte in charge while Utd are still floundering under Ole or whoever, I can see Harry thinking 'I've got as good a chance of winning something here as anywhere else' and giving us another season or signing an extension.

I do believe that, in spite of all the bullshit last summer, Kane's ideal situation would be to win trophies at Spurs. It's only because we fell away so far in the last 3 seasons that he wanted to leave. If we were a genuine force again I think there's no reason why he wouldn't be happy to stay.

We would need him to sign some kind of extension, though, as we certainly don't want to end up in a situation where Kane is heading into the last year of his contract and it's Eriksen mk II.

I'd still say he's more likely to leave, but I think him staying of his own volition is now a genuine possibility rather than a pipe dream.

Kane being on board with this should help us kick start the revival. You'd hope the arrival of Conte would excite him. He's an elite coach known for making forwards look great.

The worry is he does what Eriksen did with Mourinho and say from the off he wants out.

He's definitely been sulking about his missed transfer but I imagine he's also hurting about the damage he's done to his Spurs legacy. With Conte here it might just be ambitious enough from the club to convince him to stay and turn things around (and chase that record!).

I think we'll find out soon enough. With Conte here and money to spend however I would be confident in us luring a promising replacement if necessary (Vlahovic for example).

I'm not going to defend Kane for the way he acted in the summer and his form this season. However I do understand why his head has dropped. He was one of the ones who wanted Jose because he wants to win trophies. We got to a final and then sacked the manager who has won more than most. That suggests trophies are not that important.

I felt in the summer that only a manager like Conte would get him back on side. Going from being linked to Conte to getting Nuno showed a huge lack of ambition. At best Nuno is a long term project manager but Kane won't want to go through that process. I don't think we as a club should either. Poch was great at the time when we had to build a new stadium. Now more than ever we need a manager for the here and now.

Kane will be motivated again now as he was under Jose. I fully expect him to be back to his best under Conte. Our goal stats will go up a lot now because of it. We can argue he should've performed for Nuno but hardly anyone did let alone Kane. I think the club is split in terms of those who want to win things and those who simply aren't good enough. We need to get more winners under Conte and I do think Kane has that mentality.
