As Sunday showed, we can win without a player of Kane’s calibre.

We’ve won nothing with him. Zilch. Zero.

Now that’s not all on him, of course, but there’s a strong case to be made that we’d be better off with 3-4 better quality players than our current squad average, than with 1 exceptional player with dodgy ankles who doesn’t show up for big games and doesn’t want to be here, and WILL leave one way or another - even if that’s in 3 years for no fee.
Absolutely, but can we get those players this late in the window?

Pretty clear our targets (Martinez/Vlahovic) were never intended to play alongside Kane, they were always going to be his replacement even with what we were told.

I thought Paratici had everything ready to go and was just waiting to pull the trigger? Herc's ITK makes it sound like we arent confident about getting our Kane replacements in. Worrying if true and links up with the latest media reports.

What we really need now is Daniel trotting out his exhausted brinkmanship shtick on the only transfer he’s involved with this window, thus pissing everyone else off and actively harming the club in the process

I just can't get over some of you being happy with selling our best player to a competitor. Regardless of the money, you seriously think we're getting a player (s) close to his calibre. Oh and our deadwood is still here
You are talking about selling our best player but we are not selling Son

They are finally getting to the figure that would make us come to the table but we aren't responding is how I read it

Cheers.

Assume it's because of 2 reasons, one we can't now get our replacements that we wanted or the other that it's part of Levy's negotiation tactic and he's sweating more cash out of them

Really lost with this. Citeh seem to now want to give us what we want (ball-park figure) and stone-walled response from us. Can’t make this out ?

wish we just get rid. More down to ‘can we get who we want?’ to replace him!

I would just get rid of him, even if we’re not sure of the ideal replacement. If we can’t get our perfect attacker, sort the midfield and defence, and maybe get a back up striker.

Work towards getting a striker another day.

I want rid. I still think we’ll be pretty good going forward this year

Pay the right fees and the transfers happen, I imagine. Sooner the better.

This is why Kane should have been gone ages ago.

Surely that applies to City and the Kane fee also. Would you really have taken £100m for him?

It's a complex situation. I share your concern about us dragging it on too long but that was never a fair offer.

We should totally be talking if they are up to £150m however.

It's an interesting one because a few months ago I would have said that Levy might feel he needed to keep Kane in order to avoid getting criticised himself, but now I feel like the overwhelming majority of Spurs fans, as well as Paratici and Nuno, are fine with him being sold and he's still digging his heels in.
He's digging his heals in because the valuation hasn't been met. They have not submitted a minimum £150m bid. It really is THAT simple. It's a win win for us. We keep Kane one more year, we sign another striker this window. We sell and carry on the rebuild. What the majority of Spurs fans want (as far as I can see), is to screw City over with a massive fee. Not bend over and make it easy for them.

If we can't get our replacements, and it seems we can't get a CL level CB to partner Romero, then we shouldn't sell at any price.

It's pointless.

I don't care how many annoying leaks he gives to some sycophantic hack journalist.

The team will go backwards and we need to make a real go at top 4 this year.

I love some of the young signings we're making, but we need to keep him if no Vlahovic / Lautaro level of replacement is obtainable.

If he goes and we can bolster our squad, I'm happy.

If he stays, I'm happy for us to keep the best forward in the league for a year more.

We are in a good place, once you clean up the mess CK made on the floor. My only worry is if Levy goes full Levy and tries his brinkmanship by squeezing every last penny out of the deal until the end of the transfer window making us unable to spend the money on anything.

Would people be satisfied if the club outright refused to sell Kane, but also were largely done with incoming transfers outside of a loan or two similar to the Vinicius deal? I'm curious how many people want the club to take a hardline stance versus City expecting that there will still be substantial sums of money spent improving the squad irrespective of whether Kane goes and whether people's position would change about the sale of Kane to City if the club were not planning to spend much in the event he stays.

Yes id rather he went now, its over for me. He was always going at some point and he clearly is desperate to go.
Id rather us start a new cycle, even if we could only get half of what we wantednover the line this summer with the proviso of it carrying over into following windows looking to get clearly identified quality in.

If i was to check in on here tomorrow morning to find it had been agreed, say 140m, id strangely be pleased and feel that me, us, the club can finally move on and begin a new chapter.
Yes hes a special player but hey, all things come to an end and where one thing ends, another begins

Don’t think so. Think he’s suggesting they offered the right money and we flat out refused it. Possibly because the incomings are more difficult now.
If I understand his post correctly, City have offered a figure that’s in the right ballpark. That’s not the same as offering what’s being asked.
