What worries me if Kane leaves is will the club re invest the money wisely. If we use the money to make one or two statement purchases then ok. I'm just concerned about the money being frittered away on squad fillers or opportunistic bargains.
Need a Jack Grealish kind of signing if Kane leaves, a truly exciting and creative player who would easily walk into our XI. And Danny Ings, Sabitzer + a couple of really solid defenders.

Good post!

I think that his value only diminished from this summer to next in that this summer if he leaves it’s for way over the odds, a world record sum that could buy half a first team. If he leaves next summer it’s for market value for the world’s best striker, captain of the world’s most visible football nation, in his prime with two years in his deal.

The money he’d go for this summer is an amount that we absolutely should accept, whether he’s28 with three years on hours deal or 24 with 7 years on his deal, whether he’s one of our own or someone we got a year ago from Burkino Faso. The money he goes for next summer, well that’s still an amount that we can do a lot with, but probably a lot will mean ‘replace him with someone good and improve a couple of other first team positions’.

And that is why I don’t feel much angst right now, because a) I just don’t see that anybody will pay what it would take this summer, b) I don’t see his value being lower than it should be next summer and c) if he does go this summer then we’re buying Grealish, Skriniar, Watkins and Ings with the proceeds.
Villa are not going to let two players leave for a club marginally better than theirs it doesn't ma
Wasn’t being liberal about those players, was talking about the quality we’d be getting in with the bounty.

Though, marginally better? Now I know you’re a troll ?

which is the only thing that matters, right?

Please please please say that you’re someone with ambition in that case ?
Not a troll just questioning your statement I thought that was allowed on a public forum maybe it isn't.

I know ENIC will not spend the money wisely or provide the required investment to make us contenders.
You can’t know this, all you can be confident of, based on all their previous actions, is that Kane goes the entire fee will be put in the playing squad, every last penny. Whether or not it’s spent wisely who knows. Of the £90m Bale money that was spent, Capoue Soldado Chiriches and Paulinho where huge failures, Lamela an opinion splitter, Chadli a decent player that we made money on and Eriksen a player who across his time with us easily gave us £90m worth of quality, output and enjoyment.

Can’t judge whether the money is spent week or not until such time that it is spent.

The degree to which Levy has f*cked up this club beggars belief - that even someone as loyal as Kane now wants out... And I can't blame him. He deserves better.

Ladbrokes wouldn’t even give me a price on him staying but you can bet on his next club which speaks volumes. I keep saying it but it’s really very very simple:

NO-ONE CAN AFFORD HIM THIS SUMMER, A LITTLE THING CALLED COVID HAPPENED, CALM THE FUCK DOWN!

You can get 11/8 on Sky Bet.

Ugh the old ‘oooh I thought this was a forums’ nutshell. Yes, you’re free to say what you like and I’m equally free to paint it as rubbish if I believe it to be. If you’re saying Villa are only marginally worse than us then being a troll is the longest description I can attribute to you, because if you genuinely believe that... well I don’t want to be banned but suffice to say I’ve got nothing kind to say.

It makes me physically angry the thought of Man City signing him, the club that has been used unapologetically to sportswash a regime. Which was akin to a West Brom prior to the investment, now able to simply buy their way to success with flagrant disregard to the rules and the press now gushes over the prospect of a player coming through the right way here going to them so that they can dominate football.
I met a Citeh supporter a year or so ago socially (through other halves) and as soon as he learned I was a BigYid he got very anti so I had to put him straight and after that we settled down a bit but still a hint of coolness.
He had absolutely no conscience about Arab money at all. He just referred to the heaving trophy cabinet.
I have nothing but contempt for them but do they care as they prepare to win their 3rd pot this season?
I would take Kim Jong-un if it meant being competitive again.
I know it is not popular with the fanny scratchers on here but I am desperate for the PL title.
Vardy has done it FFS why cant we.

To be honest I've grown to come to terms with Kane leaving. And to be fair maybe it's for the best. I feel like we need a total restart and a new visionary project. If Kane doesn't want to be a part of that then it's better for both parties to part ways.

I just wish this didn't drag out. But naturally, it will. Unless Kane goes out and publically states that it's all rubbish and that he wants to stay, then the rumours will just overshadow everything Spurs related from here on.

The thing is Kane really has a point, look at history of our star players wanting out as they wanted to win things at other clubs:

Campbell - 2 PL, 2 FA Cups, 1 League Cup
Carrick - 5 PL, 1 CL, 1 World Club Cup, 1 EL, 1 FA Cup, 2 League Cup
Berbatov - 2 PL, 1 World Club Cup, 1 League Cup
Modric - 2 La Liga, 4 CL, 3 UEFA Super Cup, 3 World Club Cup, 1 Copa del Rey
Bale - 2 La Liga, 4 CL, 2 UEFA Super Cup, 3 World Club Cup, 1 Copa del Rey
Walker - 3 PL, 1 FA Cup, 4 League Cups, CL final this week.
Kane - 0 PL, 0 CL, 0 EL, , 0 FA Cup, 0 League Cup.

Eriksen only left last year and has already won a Serie A title.

Robbie Keane must be gutted though.
Does he? Because since Bale, this week Trippier will have the chance to be the only one player who left, won a serious trophy, was important part of team with playing at least as good as at Spurs.

I'm not sure Kane would be really happy with going to City, winning PL there but scoring only 15 goals in season

The worst thing is, even if Kane stays another year, what top player in their right mind will want to come to our club and sign a long term deal? We are in a death spiral and a massive show of intent from Levy is the only way to break the cycle.

Surely it would be better to sell him this summer for £150m+ than hold on to him for 12 months when his value will drop significantly?

Honestly, if he is wants to leave and it's going to happen now or next season I hope they just get it done now. He's looked a bit flat and uninterested since the cup final and I don't feel like a season of him feeling that way, with constant speculation will do us any good.

My only concern in selling him is a) whether we would reinvest the money in the squad and b) who would choose the players we invest in - I don't have any confidence that we'd do either of those things well with our current recruitment team.
