This is our "Gerrard to Chelsea" moment here - can we ultimately persuade Kane that we can be competitive in the short term with a managerial structure to support this or are we going to succumb to his demands and merely see a case of how much we can tout off our competitors and highest bidder wins because lets be fair, does it matter if it's City or Utd because regardless it's a kick in the bollocks and improves massively our rival.

Such a momentous summer and one that Levy simply has to get right - no ifs or buts here because anything else and it could set us back years both on the pitch and off.

The writing's on the wall and i think most sensible fans would agree; our squad has aged and the big-ticket signings over the last few years didn't work well enough. Kane knows better than most fans the gap between us and a CL-worthy team; he sees them in training day-in and day-out. If even WE could tell that this squad isnt anywhere close to CL-quality that he would too, and even worse, he probably knows better what we've attempted to sign and what we ended up signing so..

Jesus, there are some fucking wet-wipes in this thread at the moment!
Get a grip of yourselves.
Spurs are wet wipes in the footballing world in general! Pretty much out there with our history of non-success! Kane's far more ambitious than the club he plays for and the club he supports!

You really think Kane is confiding his career ambitions in Ndombele?

How’d the last word class all round number 9 signed to play under Guardiola fare?

I don’t believe, based on hard facts of how they’ve always conducted their transfer business, that Manchester City are breaking their transfer record by £80-£90m to sign a player tee we
to deny is to dignify

'You really think Kane is confiding his career ambitions in Ndombele?'

Yes. Tanguy has a sweet and gentle face and is probably a great listener. Unconditional Positive Regard.

Trust meeting the board tomorrow, news Kane wants out should pile the pressure on Levy even more.

I’m disappointed and fully believe he wants to leave but I don’t actually think this changes much - it just rather confirms what most suspected in that Kane’s patience has run out, which is sad and another stain on Levy.

The fact remains that we’ve got zero incentive to sell him this summer. The media will demonise us for not letting him go but if we sold him then the price of any player we want to buy would shoot up and so the relative value of any sale of Kane would be lost. The fact that his reps have gone public with his desire for a move only makes it *more* difficult to find value in a sale because now, anyone we try to buy from will assume we’re selling Kane so they’ll still increase the price of their own players. If he’d kept quiet we could have spent the expected proceeds more efficiently - so it’s a naive/dick move from his camp in that respect.

Add in the limited window for doing any deal as a result of the Euros and I can’t see Levy having any appetite to do the deal this summer as it will only make all other moves this summer more complicated. And all this is before you factor in the financial impact of the pandemic and how that could affect player values.

As for any rumour of a gentleman’s agreement between Levy and Kane, 2 things:

1) It’s highly likely the only 2 parties who would be fully aware of such an agreement would be Levy and the Kane family. So if there was any such agreement that too has been leaked by Kane’s reps/family.
2) It’s even more likely that the leaking of any such agreement would piss Levy right off and render it null and void. For all of Levy’s faults, he’s a stubborn bastard who doesn’t like to feel manoeuvred into a corner.

The scenario put forward by Dragon sounds plausible because, from an objective point of view, it’s the most sensible one for the club. Give us a year to start the rebuild under a new manager with some new players, and maybe even spread the reinvestment of Kane’s sale proceeds across 3 windows rather than one.

I also suspect that the timing of the leak is designed to flash Kane’s knickers at City in particular before they fill their need for a no.9 by signing Haaland.

I'm torn.

A part of me feels like, if he wants out, what would be the point of holding onto him for one more season?

Clearly obvious we have no money to spend this summer, so I don't have much faith of any manager out there coming in and winning a major trophy next season.

If Kane is definitely going to leave, it's just a case of this summer or next, just sell him now and start rebuilding.

If there was a chance Kane would consider staying and signing a new deal if he saw positive changes at the club (lol) then by all means, we need to try and keep hold of him this summer. But I think his mind is made up.

It makes a massive difference a new managers job would be made a hell of a lot easier if he has a fit and motivated Harry Kane. then after a year we can sell Kane when we are hopefully in a more settled position or maybe just maybe the new manager isn't a has been trying to maniacally cling on to his old glory by alienating our most talented players and parking the bus as soon as we score even though defence is our weakness.

Morivated!!! I doubt there is another manager who could have got Kane more motivated than Jose and it resulted in fantastic goal and assist numbers

The club has taken Kane for granted and will continue to do so I’m afraid

Yep. This is a watershed moment and Daniel has to get it right. There is simply no other option for ENIC here. They've dug themselves into an enormously deep hole. Joe will have to dip into his wallet, I think. We either invest to improve or sink further & the clubs value nose dives thanks to more toxicity and a stale, uncompetitive side.

Yep my fear is they would choose the latter because that's what conservative businessmen tend to do.

I don’t think anyone will offer what Levy will wont to sell Kane this summer but what happens if Abramovich offers Tottenham a world record transfer fee of £199m?

Missed this. Thanks for posting. Not sure it’s enough to placate everyone masturbating into their tears.
Past caring about that mate. An awful lot of people believe what suits at the time. If they want to spend all summer living under a cloud that's up to them. It's been the line he absolutely wouldn't be sold this Summer and It would take a world record fee to even get us listening imo.

No doubt he wants out, though I’d much rather see him go to Paris or Spain than Manchester.

I remember being broken-hearted when Hoddle left for France, but then Gazza & Lineker arrived and we won (our last!) FA Cup. It looked bad when we lost Berba & Keane - and it was, briefly - but then we built a much better side under ‘Arry. We got over losing Bale too and built the best side I’ve ever seen us send out under Poch. Football is unpredictable. It all seems dark right now. But tides do turn. And we can, and will, build a new team ready to compete.

Kane: Tanguy, I’m having somewhat of a moral dilemma. I love this club dearly but I’m beginning to come to the realisation that my career aspirations can’t be achieved here. You see, I think a player of my immense quality should be winning the biggest trophies available and if I can’t do that here, I will have to move to a club that matches my ambitions. I would really value your opinion, Tanguy. What do you think?

Ndombele: Quelle?

Kane: what?

We can invest the money in advance with him in the team and then cash in makes sense

"Sources" saying Levy and Kane had a face to face meeting.

Did they all listen in outside the door or something o_O
