Was just thinking it was definitely a summer 2003 feel. (But i think Ange will go straight to Jol stage rather than be a Santini)
Hope so. He's got that feel about him. Ange and the players will have my full support. No wavering. It isn't always going to be smooth.

He may not have won a trophy for us but to be our top ever scorer is just as big as any trophy I would say. I never thought I would see it get beat so fair play Mr Kane. You were a legend. You will now be dead to me until you return or retire 😘

Tbh I think it's good business for a 30 year old with a one year contract, but it still feels like a bit of a betrayal. We could have been really strong this year if we kept him.

So any signs of project Kane? you would have thought we would want something to appear in the news quite quickly to help ease the pain? but I guess we need to fund Joe Lewis legal fees and his 300m bail.

Yeah there's about a 15m quid discrepancy between the Spurs and the Bayern journos...

Looking at the article in The Independent and combining with other sources has:

Up front fee £86m
Total guaranteed fee £96m
Total potential fee £120m

I think it's why I'm more bitter/scornful/snide toward him about this than most. He was adored, celebrated individually more than any Spurs player I've seen - and he went on strike, trying to force a move away. And people welcomed him back, and the song continued, and there's been nothing but adoration, even up to last weekend. And then he leaves two days before the season starts, having clearly not had any intention of staying, sort of forcing us to sell him or lose him for nothing.

It's just pretty clear he doesn't care about us. And given that we've had more loyal players - Son, for one - not get nearly the same regard because they weren't seen as one of us like he was, that sucks. People can argue it's just a job or to take the emotion out, but sport is emotion, and people felt a connection, and that connection quite clearly was just convenient for Kane rather than anything he shared.

Could've been a club legend. Won't be at Bayern. Totti only won three cups with Roma, but he's more fondly remembered than many who won more. It could've meant more. It just obviously didn't.
Couldn't agree more. Goes in the Gareth Bale, Luka Modric, Dimitar Berbatov, Robbie Keane pile rather than the Hugo Lloris, Ledley King, Heung-min-son, Rafa VDV one etc.

Totally agree... but he wanted to go... Ange said today that Kane told him that from day 1... so what to do ? 🤷‍♂️

Didn't Bale just go completely silent? Don't actually remember any public comments of him wanting out or refusal to train. He just made it clear internally that he wasn't happy as far as i recall. Or am i mis-remembering?

Maybe. Arguably handled it better than Kane then who spat his dummy out.

Now that he's gone...

How do people think he stacks up compared to Hoddle, Blanchflower, Greaves, Mabbutt, etc..?

I loved Kane, so many memories, a joy to watch. But the 4 players above, bought glory too. Harrys legacy is not the same, not through his own fault, for lack of silverware

I'm not a fan of comparing to players I never witnessed live, but he's definitely the greatest player of my Spurs supporting life.

For clarity, all of the above (apart from Mabutt for 2-3 years) had retired by the time I was watching Spurs.
