Be interesting to see what happens from this point. After Grealish will City ramp up the pressure and speculation? Or will they shut it down making clear they can't buy both.

Expect the speculation will be huge for the next couple of weeks due to us playing them. I don't think City can get both unless they sell some players or we drop our valuation significantly.

The leaks this weekend following Kane's return will be telling. If his tail is between his legs it screams he knows there is no move regardless of speculation.

More Kevin Durant for me. OKC was his team. His city. They were always up there but couldn't get over the line. He then jumped to the superstar team (Warriors) and won 2 trophies, but seemed to sour on them because it wasn't his team and he didn't get the credit he thought he would.

He was also the model pro, a real inspirational figure in OKC and the league and then became a bit of a villain. That reminds me of Kane a lot. He ended up leaving the Warriors and now has another super team.

He has had a ton of success but seems very dissatisfied and agitated. I think it's a bit like playing a game you love but you're stuck on a level so you enter a cheat code to progress. At that point the ceiling for the achievement you can feel probably halves.
Yeah, I think the concensus in the NBA is, if you're an elite player, you turn a team into ring winners, not go to a team that is already winning them if that makes sense.

Up a certain creek without a certain implement I reckon.

To fix this he'll have to be very contrite, make the right noises, knuckle down and score goals. Then, we have exactly one season to start winning things. Progress and potential won't cut it any more. I think IF he stays we have one more season of him which will get him tantalisingly close to Greaves record (I think), how much of a pull breaking that would be nobody knows.

I have no doubt that if he accepts he isn't leaving this year, or even if he doesn't 'accept' it but that's how it pans out, he'll still do his best, after that, well, it's football, anything could happen.

I don't agree with how he's acted or even like it that much but despite how many disagrees this is going to get i'm going to say it anyway, he IS one of our own and this IS all fixable. I'd take three more years of him right now, even if it means losing him for nothing at the end of his contract.

I’d keep him and let him go on a free too to be honest.

Money can’t replace him, he reckons he can play into his thirties so will have his pick at 31.

No if and buts, Kane’s value to us is massive, he’s the top scorer, the top assisted, he’s the England captain. Top three players in the world probably. The club is currently trying to attract massive sponsorship deals for the stadium etc etc. He’s far more valuable to us than a 28 year old player with slightly fragile ankles. We should t even be picking the phone up unless the fee starts with a 2.

I think this is optimistic.

We should sell for £150 - this is a player who, as great as he is, hasn't shown up on every single big occasion he's ever played in, has dodgy ankles, and will decline in value every year from now on.

You can buy 3 outstanding young (but established) footballers for that. Those three players could comfortably be worth twice that in three years. Kane will not.

For us, it makes sense. We should sell at £150m.

Shameful behaviour from someone who is supposed to love the club like we do. The ultimate professional and one of our own my arse.

Hope Levy holds him and City to ransom.

What's worse in a way, is the idea that Kane had to be persuaded to stay on for another season with us at the beginning of LAST season, so this shit is not a new thing at all. The fact is he can't wait to get away from us. I say a thousand poxes on Manchester City, it's obvious they've gotten inside his head. Christ, I always thought I hated United enough, but this lot...!!

If we actually get an offer of 150m and have a viable, quality replacement that we can bring in, I'm inclined to agree. Kane wants to leave and he's now at his peak value. We're only one big injury away from losing both our best player and £150 million quid to rebuild the squad.

He was an absolute monster last season but the two seasons before that he missed 10 games with injury and scored 17/18 goals with only a handful of assists - his total goal involvement (goals + assists) in each those 2 seasons was lower than the likes of Bamford and Watkins achieved in weaker teams last season.

He's an amazing player but I don't he's completely irreplaceable and 150m is an awful lot of money.

Hey guys, check our Columbo here

(Sorry! But yes, it's a popular meme so I assumed everyone would get it)
So, wait, you’re saying that all that time the Spurs no. 10 was Charlie Kane (what did he do with poor Harry)? What a bounder Sir!
