let's be honest, Saddam Hussain was given a far worse reputation than he deserved. There have been far worse leaders, who no one seems to remember or make much mention of...milosovic, putin and co. come to mind!

Rated him for the way that he went to his execution. Arrogant as hell and still having a go.
Apart from that bit of an idiot. Threatening the worlds oil is one sure way of getting your arse kicked. Russia only get away with it cause they've got nukes.

Really?

He brutally murdered 182,000 of his own people during his "Al-Anfal" genocide campaign against Iraq's Kurdish population.

He sent his SCUD missiles into Israel's major population centres.

While very few Arab tyrants will win any prizes for their humanitarianism, Saddam Hussein was certainly the very worst of a very bad bunch.

He actually said football fans in general, and says that he has seen it all before. Which is probably true for majority of fans at any club.

There have been "worse" leaders who the West haven't/didn't deal with though. Pol Pot, for example, was as good as publicly backed by Richard Nixon in the 1970's. What about Iran? Idi Amin? Who stepped in to stop Habyarimana in Rwanda in 1994?

The whole of Africa is rife with genocide and the whole world looks on. But we buy the Live Aid single and watch the gigs when they're on the telly.... we've done our bit?

All of that is not to say that Saddam Hussein didn't deserve what was coming to him. He did. He also deserved what was coming to him in the 1980's, when the Americans were backing him. George W Bush then had to clean up the mess his father had left behind in Iraq.

If only he'd brought a Premiership football club.

They're not happy about this on Blue Moon, he's not really having a dig at them either.

Creating an even bigger mass unfortunately and giving a focus to more terrorism

Yeaah, just imagine if Saddam owened the mighty yids, milosovic spammers, bush gooners, blair watford and putin chelski. They'd probably start bombing each other's stadia halfway through the season, would be immense!

That would be the only way Saddam could have ever owned the Yid Army (boom boom). I thought he might have been more of a West Hamas man myself.
This thread gave me an excuse to pop over to BlueMoon, we do look quite reasonable people compared to that site.

Well in that case, perhaps Harry - being a triffic student of the history of evil - was cleverly pursuing a course of plausible deniability. If challenged by Sheik Mansour, or any other wealthy club-owner, about being compared to an evil leader, Harry could say that he deliberately mentioned a relatively nice evil leader, so as not to give offence.

it is a football forum mate but there's no harm in mixing in a bit of politics and world history every now and then to spice things up a bit.
