It's all good and well Harry Redknapp coming out with comments about our open attacking football and yes it's beautiful for neutrals and fans alike to watch but when you're shipping an alarming amount as we are, logically tactics coaching need to be looked upon.

My question can anyone understand why this hasn't been addressed.

Also, are people not concerned that we can't win away from home, not been done in the CL and rarely outside London. If we are to challenge domestically or in Europe this has to be addressed by the manager.

Enjoy the positives for a bit mate.
Look at our defensive injuries.....Of course we'll ship goals with that many outs

He's also said on a few occasions that we can't and shouldn't play 4-4-2 away from home in the champions league..... How did he line the team (and not a full strength) team up last night?

He obviously took a risk and wanted to go for a win......

could have played 4 4 1 1 but when was the last time Niko played in the hole for us? quite awhile....add into the fact Azza was 50 50 and we couldnt even field a decent midfield.

It wasn't a problem last season. The main problem is an unsettled defence and having our best partnership (King and Dawson) out. Hopefully Dawson can get back to full fitness again soon and Corluka can get going again. I think Gallas can cover for King in the meantime. Plus Gomes is making mistakes again this season.

The only real difference now is that we have 2 wingers with Lennon and Bale. But I dont recall it being a problem in the 2nd half of last season with Bale and Bentley out wide. Considering Lennon does a better job defending than Bentley I dont see how that could make us worse having him and Bale out wide.

Although I do think we're more stable in midfield with Huddlestone and Modric. We keep the ball a lot better and have much better composure in the heart of midfield. Jenas is doing well but he doesn't shield defence and Palacios gives the ball away too cheaply.

I'd say our biggest weakness is that central 4 (centre backs and centre midfield). We're a lot better with Dawson, King, Huddlestone and Modric. We've barely played more than 2 of those 4 this season.

no that's the way he has us playing our football and I for one love it. We try to outscore everyone and it makes the most exciting to watch.

When we get our players back, anyone of the four CB's that are out I'm sure he can then work on things but even then I'd take this style of football over conceeding goals anyday, that's why I started supporting Spurs and am glad the traditions have returned.

Wilkins made a great point last night though. In the Champions League you're going to come up against a team that is great in defence. So we cant rely on outscoring the opposition all the time. Its only a matter of time before we have another of those games where we just cant break the opposition down (be it in the League or the Cup). Hopefully by the time the CL starts again we'll have at least plugged the leaks at the back. We can still play exciting football and be solid at the back. We just need to retain the ball better and stop giving the opposition chances. I'd rather see us dominate games and create lots of chances than an end to end game.

Can we just not enjoy this moment, please?

We have been the most enetrtaining team to watch in the CL on our debut year. Managers players from all over Europe will have seen what we are capable of and are now taking notice, this can only be good for the club, top players may now want to join us. Do you think they would if we had gone out and ground out boring 0-0 or 1-0 wins. Probably not!

We have had our most unsettled defence for seasons, and last night we had a shocking ref, where at least one of the goals shouldn't have come about.

I absolutely love it, and wouldn't change a thing :)

Also we are only 6 points from the top of the table in a year when any team can take points from anyone.

I sort of understand where you are coming from, but, I actually don't care this morning.

What was that Danny Blanchflower quote... about going out and beating the opposition and not waiting for them to die of boredom?!

Just imagine, we could have been Man Utd fans during this group stage and we would have seen just 7 goals in 6 games! We almost scored that many just against Inter, the current European Champions!

I'm concerned we can't seem to keep a clean sheet but there are several reasons for this. Constant injuries to key centre backs, injuries to central midfielders, etc, etc, etc. I'd like us to shore up about the back, sure, but the way we set up, we set up to attack teams which will leave us open to counters.

Of the goals last night, I felt the only one which Gomes could have done better on was the penalty.

The header and the free kick flew straight past him, no chance! Yes, we could have stopped the cross for the header and the free kick should never have been given, it was an extremely soft free kick.

These things will happen, I'm almost more concerned about how many goals we're scoring in the Premier League (not enough to kill teams like Birmingham, West Ham, West Brom, Wigan, etc off).

indeed, we've actually got a better goal difference through the group stages then Man U and conceeded the same amount of goals as the current European Champions in the same group.

It's not a stupid question...we haven't won away from home in the CL

So fucking what? We top the group, beat the holders, and still people are like, but but but, we didn't win away !

Who the hell do you think we are? We're almost down to bare bones and resting some of those bones. We drew, topped the group, got the job done. Just fucking enjoy the moment without looking for negativities.

We missed Kaboul and his heading ability yesterday. The corners and crosses felt more dangerous than usual.

That's true, but I'm pretty sure that it is often said that in the Champions' League you're doing well if you win your home games and avoid defeat in your away games. We have spanked teams at home and only lost one away, which has been good enough to win our group.

Our defensive record is quite alarming. We really need to start keeping clean sheets in the league. The problem clearly lies with our injury 'crisis' and, I think, the loss of form of a key player.

If we can keep a pretty consistent back 4, mainly rotating between 3 CBs then we'll tighten up considerably. We've seen that before. If they have adequate protection from an in-form Palacios then they are even stronger.

I don't think not winning away in the CL is a great worry. Agaisnt Werder it was out first game, against Inter, Gallas was yet to find his form, Bassong looked poor as did Hutton, and Ekotto for that matter, not to mention we went down to 10 men after 10 kinutes or whatever and yesterday, well, we lead 3 times so I'd understand someones argument but I mean, with kranjcar and Palacios in the middle for almost all the game we did well to not just lose.

I think getting a result yesterday with a pretty thin squad showed our strength.
