Terrible news. Only 40 years old and ided of a suspected heart attack.

There was someone of that name writing for Sportingo as recently as a week ago. Before that, Glenn offered him a job scouting at Wolves when he was selling second-hand cars.

I remember him doing trials for Spurs but not making the grade and going to Barnet. Never saw him play and always felt for him having to live in the shadow of his more famous brother.

I can only see the story on the Daily Mirror site at the moment.

When Glenn was in his prime at Spurs, Carl was supposed to be coming through the ranks and going to be even better than GH.

He didn't make it but played a lot of local league stuff out in Herts & Harlow, had a pub out this way at one time.

RIP Lad.

That is sad.

Didn't Hoddle say in his book that it was the saddest day of his life when Carl was rejected by Spurs?

Very sad.

That's terrible news. I met Carl many moons ago when he was attempting to follow in his brothers bootsteps. So sad at 40. Eek

In my younger days I knew Carl.

I played against him regularly on Sunday mornings in youth football when he was playing for Maypole Sports in Harlow.

He was a nice bloke and in more recent years I use to have the occasional pint in the Red Cow in Bishops stortford where he was the landlord. He certainly went through quite troubled and difficult times but personally speaking always remained an affable and welcoming bloke.

It's a terrible shame and 40 is no age.

firstly, Glenn have a special place in Tottenham fan hearts, he was our legend and even the official site posted it.

secondly, according to our official site, Carl:

A talented midfielder, he was with us as a youth and Reserve team player from 1983 to 1989 and went on to plA talented midfielder, he was with us as a youth and Reserve team player from 1983 to 1989 and went on to play for Leyton Orient and Barnet.

so why saying this instead of sending your sympathic for Glenn ?

Ah chill out man!

Fordy was making a comment to BoF, a bit light hearted. Does nt mean Fordy eats kittens!

And its 'sending sympathy for Glen' not 'sympathic'
:shake:

I met Carl Hoddle when i was at Hayes football club, he was playing against us in a cup match.
I think we sold double the usual amount of tickets that night, because he was playing!
i cant remember what team he was playing for at the time, but Bishop Stortford comes to mind!
