Scamacca and Raspadori from Sassuolo, one a bigger physical forward, one a more agile technical forward. Been linked with both now, one as a Kane backup, one as a Son backup maybe. We currently play a 3421, with Son and Kulu slightly deeper/wider than Kane. Could that flex to a 3412 in certain games, with someone like Scamacca partnering Son up top with Kane occupying more of a withdrawn role, in truth I think we’ve seen that sort of formation happen in some games.
Incidentally I see most of our business coming from Serie A this summer, Perisic in already, then we’ve been heavily linked with Bastoni?, McKennie?, SMS?, Dybala?, now Scamacca. I think Bellotti is worth a look too on a free.

Bellotti is a big risk because it would be a free. That would mean he would instead want a bigger contract and if it turns out he's shit then we are stuck with him.

However, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, it may soon be time to spread his wings.

“Yes, yes, he will leave Sassuolo,” Romano recently said of Scamacca’s future to Rio Ferdinand’s FIVE YouTube channel.

“He extended the contract a few days ago but he will leave Sassuolo.

“It was an extension to allow a potential loan with obligation to buy clause”
I mean that is literally a deal Paratici loves, the loan with option/obligation.

"A loan with obligation you say?"

Not ruling anything out here but a high profile Serie A switch for Scamacca has been gaining plenty of traction in the Italian press for some time now. Notably Milan, Inter, Napoli and even Juve.
Inter had been working on a deal with him since Jan alongside the Bremer deal. It was pretty much set that both would go there. Now obviously the landscape has changed dramatically. AC have supposedly started to show a lot of interest which doesn’t surprise me now their takeover has gone through as they need a new young centre forward. Still, if we want him, we should have a pretty good shot.

Just don’t see how a target man striker works for us.

No matter what people say, Kane will play the majority of matches, as will Son and Deki. Which means a fixed striker will get such limited game time unless someone gets a long term injury.

Just makes so much more sense to get a fluid attacker like Liverpool do. A fluid attacker could genuinely rotate with Son and Deki without compromising our shape, and also cover Kane.

Well inter seem to be working on all kinds of deals without any actual money.

Agree, I’m assuming it was because at the time Lautaro and De Vrij were considered expendable and they were the replacements. But even so they were very committed to both.

I think he's more than just a target man mate.

He's fantastic. Again not sure quite how much time he'd get but as a CF he's superb.

I see us looking at this type of forward as a real positive. No he wouldn't be able to play across the front three positions but I feel that is the point.

This suggests to me that Conte is looking at different ways for us to play against teams who set up the low block to nullify the effectiveness of the base 343 approach

A big man who can come off the bench can disrupt the opposition physically. It is old school but the more questions you ask these type of teams the more likely they are to crack and we have Kane and Son to punish them.

Great to see this flexibility and forward thinking. This, plus a few more goals from free kicks and corners, will add points next season. A number of these types of improvements to the team can only see us really competing next season.

Isn't it nice to have optimism that isn't blind?

There’s no way Kane can play 2/3 games per week most of the season and head off to Qatar mid season and play in the WC. He’s an elite athlete, but not that elite.

IMHO if we bring in another CF then they will get 10-15 starts and another 10+ from the bench assuming Kane stays fit the entire season, which is unlikely. Even with a minor injury to Kane that’s another 3-5 starts on top. We also need to do some succession planning for Kane and so bringing in a highly rated 23 year olds CF makes sense on that front too.

I like the thinking here.

Low block, tough teams to break down you say.

Scamacca twatting them in from 40 yards will take care of this little problem. :D

We 100% need another striker. I can see why Conte would want someone like this guy.
