I'm sure the OP did something similar in the ITK thread in the last window, whinging about people being off topic with a post that itself was off topic as it was a whinge

I'm sick of threads like these. Telling people how to behave and feel. There's a line, I agree. Booing or abusing players is past that line, as is ridiculous comments like we have admittedly seen on here. But posts about Arsenal winning today which bemoan the situation we're in are not past that line.

It's a free fucking country and a forum to discuss Spurs. We've once again thrown away a big lead and it looks like we won't finish above Arsenal again. Given that this is our best team in 20 years and their worst, what do people expect? Peaceful discussion where we say oh never mind?

Threads that call players names for no reason or abuse owners are stupid, but how many threads have we seen telling people to stop moaning? Enough!
Really? I guess Modders and VDV weren't that great eh? Also you could be a bit more optimistic mate (just so we're clear I'm not trying to tell you what to do or how to behave ;)).

What can I be optimistic about exactly? We can say what we like but what we want more than CL football is also finishing above Arsenal. I'm 22, so I've only seen us shit really. Where can I source optimism from then? I support them always, I will always love them an ungodly amount, too much if anything. But from my life so far, I can't help but feel I'll always be disappointed by Tottenham. These big leads we throw away now aren't exactly a pointer in the opposite direction.

Fair points man but I ask you this: what good will focusing on the negative do you? We've been in the arse's shadow for some time so it's not really something that will change over night. That being said you're entirely entitled to expect the worse but hoping for the best doesn't hurt and it's certainly a better alternative than being a pessimist. Heartbreak comes with supporting a team like spurs but that's what makes the good moments great. At 22 dwelling our misfortune will only bring you unnecessary stress and make you age faster  . Chill out (if you're into it, spend some time with Mary Jane) and definitely take heart in the fact that compared to the past few years our fortune's have changed for the better and (I believe) will continue to get better.

It's unrealistic to expect everyone to stop whinging. Everyone has different levels of pessimism and optimism...I think ignoring those whose pessimism is too annoying is the best bet :)

FYI I still think we can do this...

Actually if you read my rant you would see it was more about the amount of threads whinging. The amount of negative threads outweigh any threads that's positive.
I've been really frustrated sometimes and said my piece just like any other fan. SC is a really popular site and I'm sure some of the stuff on here get's to the players either through friends, family or even them reading it themselves.

I don't think there are more negative threads than positive ones. At the moment on the first page we have threads about our team for next season, one about the legend Ledley King, our race for a top four place, what team we should put out against City, why our new 22 year old German midiflder is already good enough to start, our financial situation and someone dealing with a racist in the stadium.

All positive or neutral threads.

The only negative ones are a rant about how our EL exploits has hit our chances of finishing in the top four. The OP has made a lot of valid points and has stats to back himself up. Surely this is allowed even if negative?

Then there's yet another one about Ade (I'll give you that one), one about needing to support the players more and then this one.

So basically you are making up 25% of the negative threads. I think Alanis Morisette would agree there's some sort of irony here and if she can fit it into a rhyme, she will.

Thanks

I have no problem with people whining on here, it's great in fact, and I hope it gets it out of their system. I for one will admit to venting on here and becoming a right prima donna at times. I just hope that venting and whingeing on here prevents people from bringing it to the games.

They have and I do take heart in that, but there's no guarantee things will get better.

As for the first question you asked about what good being negative will do me, well I don't expect a top four finish now, so at least I can't be disappointed. Hopefully come May I'm saying you're right and that I was a miserable twat.

That is something I will most definitely agree with.

I just worry that others will use this to allow their negativity to grow, take it with them to games and vent it there.
