State of play as I hear it...

Just far too much money as things stand. Player wants out though, and Geordies need to trim their wage budget. He's definitely an option, but not at the numbers currently being discussed.
I think this is what jj was alluding to when he said "not at the moment" when asked about wijnaldum as we are not interested until Newcastle drop the price significantly!!

Based on the quality he did for Newcastle, I don't blame them for wanting that money for him. He is a very valuble player. The sad thing is that we should have signed him a few yeas ago. The same with Bolasie at Crystal Palace. They want a lot of money for him now. We could have signed him on the cheap a couple of seasons ago. Same with Bats. I thought that would be Pochs first signing after he arrived. He didn't sign. So many of these stories. It is time to act!

Hindsight and Time travel machines would be a wonderful addition to a scout's armoury.

That's pretty harsh. These players were obviously purchased with a long term view in mind (as is the basis of our transfer strategy). It was their first year in a new league, they could easily be pushing first team this season.
Agreed. Lamelas first two years were borderline embarrassing . Superb player now

Not sure on Wijnaldum, form what I saw last season he seemed a good player for the counter attack but could be very hit and miss. Was that because of his first year in England? Playing with that Newcastle team?

I feel we have plenty of players who could play in that AM role (Alli, Eriksen, even Kane or Lamela) plus we could play two upfront more often. But in Poch we trust

I'm sorry but bolasie is not good enough for us.

GW is the right quality. But he's not worth spending 25million on. He may also interrupt the development of winks, onomah, Edwards etc

HAHA! if there's one club in the league that'll pay exactly what Newcastle want then it's Liverpool. What a ridiculous football club. It's any wonder that they're still in business they way that they throw money at signings.

No worries, I'm hoping that we make a run at Malli still after it's being reported that he has a very reasonable release clause.

We don't want a player like this join one of our competitors. Liverpool is a club we should make sure we are ahead of.

Without any forum of European competition I think Liverpool will be really dangerous next season.
