Could end up being a good signing but feel there’s better out there for a better price, big English premium slapped on his price

Utter madness to spend £50m on a 23 year old, with one season of premier league football under his belt.

That makes the £80m for Maguire look like a bargain :ROFLMAO:

people said the same about VVD, and look how that panned out. at least their rectifying their problem positions and showing ambition, which is a damn sight more than what we're showing at this particular moment!

Completely different to VVD IMO, and I can't remember anyone saying he was unproven.

VVD had over 2 seasons of PL football and was already and established international when Liverpool signed him. Anyone with eyes could tell he was going to be phenomenal*. Ben White is a good PL player, but at the moment that is it. He could turn out to be an absolute worldie for the goons, but he could as easily turn out to be the second coming of Phil Jones.

*apart from that game Kane took him to the cleaners.

i don't deny he's unproven, and there was people mocking Liverpool for splashing 70m on VVD, if a club feels a player is good enough they should pay it. Agree, we don't know how he's gonna turn out, but its all about showing ambition, i don't knw if he will correct their issues, all I'm saying is at least they're trying to!

I would definitely have taken VVD and Maguire over White for their relative prices, yes he will be 24 next season but they were proven leading defenders in the league, white is a talent but not a proven one so think they've overpaid

If arsenal are going to splash £50m probably as average a player as we could hope for

Fifty million seems a hell of a lot of money. Brighton have done great business there. Wouldn’t be surprised to see them try and sign Rodon now.

I guess I'm in the minority but I don't rate Bertrand at all. Would be pretty dissappointed if that was a signing we made.

Certainly not a great player, but I think it's decent business on a free. Good squad player and home-grown.

There is nothing exciting about players like Bertrand and Ben Davies, but every squad needs a couple of those players.

Jealous of the arsenal signing. He is a good player getting better all the time.

My hope now is the Brighton back three protected him and he will get exposed at the scum.

White is good, there's a reason why Bielsa wanted him. Webster and Dunk were better than him last season but he is young and will improve. Worst case they sell him to Leeds for 25m or so.

I disagree buddy. I think he's class. Good footballer with great physicality. Never understood why he stayed at the Saints for so long.
BTW great avatar. You look so happy

£50 million?! Really? Wow. Didn’t arsenal have the 3rd best defence in the league last season, if so, hardly seems like they needed to spend £50 million of their transfer budget on White. Personally think that’s piss poor recruitment.

He's fucking good though and the leader they've needed forever. It's the opposite of piss poor recruitment, he's exactly the player they need and they've paid what it takes to get the deal done, despite covid and no European football.
