The commercial income from this would outweigh the costs associated with the transfer no? Although there is no way we will be paying even close to his salary. It will need RM to agree a lump sum with him...

So we’ve not bid for a semi injury prone 30 year old on 500k who burned a lot of bridges when he left?

Surprise ??‍♂️

No. It’s a nice idea but Bale isn’t a big deal for new sponsors, especially if you think about our banned list and his arrival simply can’t facilitate an additional million shirt sales.

From a marketing standpoint our most valuable player by a long way is Sonny but we haven’t managed to sign up a Korean blue chip company as a partner on the back of his success.

I wonder if us paying a decent fee to Madrid for Bale, and them subsidising his wage over 3 years would work as a bit of an FFP loophole for Madrid?

Real are now at the negotiation table, by publicly saying they would pay half Bales wage for the remainder of Bale’s contract. So who wants to structure in effect a compensation package for Bale on behalf of Real?

Where have they said that?

Real Madrid have spent close to £400M already, have fairly significant debts, must be close to breaking FFP, and have no way to fund a move for Pogba (or even M’bappe next year which is who Zidane really wants). They simply have to offload players. The only way Bale leaves this summer is either a pay off of a significant part of his remaining contract to encourage him to leave, or they give him a free transfer (meaning someone else can afford his wages), or they loan him out for a low (or no fee) and someone else pays his wages. Bale holds all the cards, and given how they have treated him I wouldn’t be surprised to see him and his agent dig their heels in and get the maximum possible. Bale needs to play CL football at a top club. We fall into that bracket. But we’d need Real Madrid to swallow their pride and cut their losses and I cannot see that happening.

Must be interesting as I imagine Levy has spent a lot of hours over the last decade negotiating with Real Madrid for one player or another. Right now I suspect he is playing poker over Eriksen / Ceballos too!

If that were the case every team would be flocking to make a profit on it.

It was a nice idea from me ... youre right though i dont think it is as cut and dried as saying he would make us money... we have a draw anyways.

My view is i wouldnt want Bale but if he comes he would definitely bring us another notch provided he stays fit - Son on the right, Bale on the left and Kane in the middle - thats frightening. He is approaching 30 though and we know what happens when 30 hits...
